Seattle Sea Dragons
For two weeks in a row, the Sea Dragons have put up 18 points, and in neither event was it enough to pick up a win.
Ben DiNucci has been one of the most consistent performers in the league, and he currently leads the XFL in passing yards. However, while Seattle’s defense certainly needs to step up, DiNucci needs to do a better job of turning those yards into touchdowns.
The Sea Dragon’s run game was an area that saw a vast improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. The team totaled 51 rushing yards in their first game, but Morgan Ellison stepped up and racked up 50 yards last week. The team as a whole had 103 rushing yards. Seeing this improvement, they are poised for a breakout game today.
Vegas Vipers
Again, given the way Seattle is trending, they deserve an edge this week no matter who they are playing, but they have the privilege of visiting one of the worst teams in the league today.
Last week, the Vipers were held to six points by the DC Defenders. Vegas could only manage 182 total offensive yards, and while DC has one of the league’s better defenses, that is still a pathetic performance.
The change at quarterback is partially to blame. Vegas started Brett Hundley, the former Green Bay quarterback, in Week 2, as opposed to Luis Perez, who put up a solid showing in Week 1.
Hundley completed 11 passes for 102 yards. Numbers like that will never get the job done. Perez still saw a few snaps in Week 2, but he only managed one yard on five passes. So overall, DC proved to be too much for Vegas to handle.
Hopefully, another week of practice will help Hundley straighten things out, but Vegas fans should keep their expectations low this week.
