XFL Best Bets – Championship Sunday – Renegades @ Defenders

The relaunched season of the XFL is approaching its end, and a winner will be declared after three years since the pandemic halted the league’s first relaunch.

The Arlington Renegades and D.C. Defenders will square off for the 2023 XFL Championship.

Having achieved the best record in the regular season, the Defenders defeated the Seattle Sea Dragons in the North Division Championship to reach the final. Meanwhile, despite a losing record during the regular season, the Renegades secured a spot in the championship game by upsetting the Houston Roughnecks as a (+6.5) underdog.

For Arlington and their coach Bob Stoops, the crucial factor will be their defense, which succeeded in limiting Houston to a season-low score of 11 points during their victory last Saturday. However, they will face a tough challenge from D.C.’s dominant rushing attack, led by Abram Smith. Smith topped the XFL rushing charts with 741 yards, contributing to the Defenders’ league-leading total of 1,408 rushing yards.

In addition, D.C. boasts a potent passing game, anchored by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu, who ranked third in the XFL for regular-season passing yards with 1,894. Ta’amu has excelled in protecting the ball, with only three interceptions – the lowest tally of any quarterback with at least 200 pass attempts.

Once again, the Renegades are an underdog by nearly a touchdown. DC has rolled through this season, and though Arlington had a cute win to bring them to the championship game, it’s hard to imagine them pulling off another immaculate win. The Defenders’ offense will ultimately be too much for the Renegades.

DC -6.5 (-115)
Over 46.5 (-110)
