Week 2 of the XFL kickoff tonight with the St. Louis Battlehawks taking on the Seattle Sea Dragons.
On Sunday, the Battlehawks edged out Hines Ward’s Brahams 18 – 15. They will attempt to continue their successes tonight in Seattle.
As for the Sea Dragons, they were upset on Sunday against the DC Defenders, as predicted by yours truly. Seattle has some high level talent on their team, but they were going up against a well constructed DC squad. Hopefully they can bounce back tonight at home.
After the XFL Draft, this was the game people circled, as it features — by far — the two best quarterbacks in the league. It’s shocking AJ McCarron isn’t in the NFL.
While no one thought he would be a star, it’s surprising he couldn’t fulfill a backup role on a roster somewhere. However, his misfortune has turned into an excellent opportunity for the XFL. The name recognition is a great way to help bring eyes to the St. Louis team.
Statistically, he was out performed last week by Luis Perez of Vegas, and the man he faced tonight, Ben DiNucci. McCarron was the only starting QB to not throw an interception last week, so hopefully that consistency can bring this team another win tonight.
Ben DiNucci’s connection with Jahcour Pearson was the high point for this team last week. DiNucci racked up 282 total passing yards, and 95 of them went to Pearson. DiNucci was slinging, but his two interceptions, paired with a lackluster performance by the defense, was the difference in that game. They ultimately lost
There is nothing outstanding about that DC squad, so seeing how Seattle struggled with them, it is hard to imagine them having much better luck against St. Louis.
St. Louis should win outright, but seeing how close these games have been, it would be foolish not to take the four points.
The unders were burned last week as every game saw 33+ points, and three of the four had 40+. Both teams in this one scored 18 points last week, and honestly, their offenses are capable of much more, so the over is the way to go here.
St. Louis +4.5 (-110)
Over 37.5 (-105)
