DC Defenders
The Defenders enter Week 3 undefeated. However, they have had sloppy quarterback play, and their defense has elevated them to 2-0.
DC’s run game has carried their offense, and they have had an interesting attack, as four different players helped the Defenders rack up 229 rushing yards last week against Vegas. So while Jordan Ta’amu could only collect 109 passing yards, his 65 yards on the ground went much further in delivering DC that second win of the season.
Seeing that St. Louis allowed over 100 rushing yards in both of their prior games, DC should stick to this style of offense, and it should be effective.
While the Defenders will rely on that high-power defense, their offense has not proven they can keep up with a team like St. Louis.
St. Louis Battlehawks
The Battlehawks also come into Week 3 undefeated. They are a scrappy team that has edged out both wins, and that’s the fortitude they will need to defeat DC and their incredible defense.
The Battlehawks had an easy matchup in Week 1 against San Antonio, but they handled themselves well last week against Seattle. They will try to turn this game into a shootout, and if they can, DC will struggle to keep pace.
While AJ McCarron has been reliable, he hasn’t quite lived up to the high expectations that people had for him in the XFL. McCarron is third in the league with 374 passing yards, but he does hold an impressive 3-0 TD/INT ratio. This game will do a great job of testing him, and it will be interesting to see how he fares against DC’s defense.
As for St. Louis’ defense, they had a tough outing last week in Seattle, as they allowed 18 points on 299 yard to the Sea Dragons. They will need to tighten up, as their offense will not be able to score as easily as they have in past weeks.
