World Cup 2022: Group H Preview

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is here starting Monday, November 21st. The RPS squad is ready to go with Playbooks, Core Plays, a Trust the Process video, and the most active Discord community in DFS.

Jaime Durand has been the lead soccer coordinator since RPS started. In this series of articles he will be previewing every team in the tournament, group by group, providing players to watch and of course, his pick to win the group.

Portugal

All good things must come to an end and unfortunately, this will be the last World Cup for Cristiano Ronaldo. Controversy has followed Ronaldo all season at Manchester United and even some of his teammates are not too happy with the all-time great. If it was anyone other than Ronaldo I would be worried but this man is cold-blooded and will look to go out with a bang. One goal in and all the drama will be forgotten. Bruno Fernandes is in great form heading into the World Cup and they have a lot of young talent that will help A Selecao cruise to the round of 16 and possibly further.

Top Players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Joao Cancelo

Players to Watch: Rafael Leao, Andre Silva and Goncalo Ramos

Uruguay

La Celeste comes into the World Cup with one of the most underrated teams in the tournament. Luiz Suarez and Edison Cavani are the names people know but this squad is much better than that. Liverpool Forward Darwin Nunez and Real Madrid breakout star Federico Valverde are the reason why this team will make it to the round of 16. This group is tough and Portugal is the big favorite to not just win this group but to compete in the final but I am taking Uruguay to win the group outright in what will definitely be one of the big upsets of the tournament.

Top Players: Luis Suarez and Darwin Nunez

Players to Watch: Federico Valverde and Facundo Torres

South Korea

Anytime you have one of the best players in the world you give yourself a chance to win. Heung-Min Son is just that and even though he was expected to miss time with a fractured eye socket he will be ready to go wearing a Batman mask. South Korea opens play against a very good Uruguay team and South Korea would love to at least get a draw out of it. I think they can possibly beat Ghana but I think both Uruguay and Portugal are just better.

Top Players: Heung-Min Son and Hee-Chan Hwang

Players to Watch: Kang-In Lee and Gue-Sung Cho

Ghana

Ghana comes in as one of the lowest-ranked teams by FIFA in the tournament. They have a lot of young talent but it’s going to be a few cycles before they are serious contenders in a World Cup. They did not get any favors either by being placed in a group with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea. I do not see them beating any of those teams and they will likely end at the bottom of the group. If they are to give anyone a game veterans like Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey will have to play out of their minds but that is unlikely to happen. If they can get any points and get some exposure to their young players that would be a win in itself.

Top Players: Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey

Players to Watch: Mohammed Kuddus and Kamaldeen Sulemana
