The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is here starting Monday, November 21st. The RPS squad is ready to go with Playbooks, Core Plays, a Trust the Process video, and the most active Discord community in DFS.
Jaime Durand has been the lead soccer coordinator since RPS started. In this series of articles he will be previewing every team in the tournament, group by group, providing players to watch and of course, his pick to win the group.
The reigning champions will look to repeat for the first time since Brazil did it in 1962. This team is loaded with talent and should be one of the favorites to win it all again. The Leus Bleus attack is led by Kylian Mbappe and La Liga stars Karim Benzema and Ousmane Dembele. While they have a lot of veteran stars they also have a lot of elite young talent with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. France should not face much of a challenge in this group and should cruise undefeated into the knockout round.
Top Players: Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema and Ousmane Dembele
Players to watch: Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni
Denmark is led by Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen who helped The Red and Whites reach the round of 16 in 2018 before being eliminated by Croatia in penalty kicks. They should be favored here over Tunisia and Australia to reach the next round and will get things started against Tunisia before having to face France. Eriksen will get some help from Tottenham player Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but the one guy I am excited to see play on the biggest stage of them all is 22-year-old Brugge star Andreas Skov Olsen who has become one of our favorite guys to target whenever Brugge is on a slate. Denmark is the clear number two team in this group and should make a second straight appearance in the round of 16.
Top Players: Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Players to watch: Andreas Skov Olsen
Tunisia qualified for the World Cup in 2018 and will once again make an appearance in Qatar. In 2018 The Carthage Eagles beat Panama but that would be their only positive result losing to both Belgium and England. Wahbi Khazri is their most accomplished player and should be the focus of the Tunisia attack. Tunisia is the third-best team in this group and has a slim chance of advancing If and only if they get a result against Denmark.
Top Players: Wahbi Khazri
Players to watch: Hannibal Mejbri
There are two teams in this tournament that are just not good enough to get results in the World Cup. The first one is Saudi Arabia and the second one is Australia. Both of these teams are teams we need to stack against because they will be giving up plenty of goals. Aaron Mooy who plays for Celtic but spent many years in the EPL is their best player. The majority of the team plays locally in Australia and the other names on this roster might only ring a bell if you joined us back in covid days with the 5 am Aussie league DFS slates.
Top Players: Aaron Mooy
Players to watch: Jamie MacLaren and Ajdin Hrustic
Group D Predictions
Jaime: France, Denmark, Tunisia and Australia
