WNBA Best Bets – Storm & Lynx

Connecticut Sun @ Minnesota Lynx

The second-place Sun is in the Land of Ten Thousands Lakes to take on the lowly Lynx. Despite being separated by seven teams and five and a half games, Connecticut is a short (-4.5) point favorite.

A large part of that is due to the leg injury sustained by Brionna Jones. Jones was second on the team, averaging 16 points per game. While it’s certainly a substantial loss, the way they play, they should be able to easily divide those shots among the rest of the team.

Connecticut is 6-6-1 at the spread, so missing one of their best players makes it challenging to lay the points. When we add to that the Lynx showing when they hosted the Sun a few weeks ago and only lost by four, the smart bet becomes apparent.

Minnesota +4.5 (-110)
Over 158.5 (-110)

Indiana Fever @ Seattle Storm

Two of the worst teams face off with the Fever in Seattle.

The hosting storm enters play with a record of 3-8, and Indiana’s record is just a game stronger. Seattle does have the best scorer in the league in Jewell Loyd. Loyd averages 26.2 points per game and hits almost four 3s per game to reach that total. She has been impressive, but her stat padding has yet to translate into wins.

This is Loyd’s ninth season in the league, and prior to this season, she had never averaged more than 17.9 points per game. Had the Storm known they would see such an uptick in her play this season, they certainly would have thought they would be doing better than 3-8.

Seattle is the underdog in this one, two of their three wins have come on the road, but they are 7-3-1 at the spread. In addition, they have won their last seven meetings against the Fever, and there is no reason to think that streak will end today.

Seattle +2.5 (-110)
Over 164.5 (-110)
