WImbledon Bets: Berrettini Upset & Medvedev Dominance

Carlos Alcaraz V. Matteo Berrettini

Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed in this tournament, but he had some struggles to make it to this round. In his last match, he faced Nicolás Jarry, who took 18 games off Alcaraz before falling in the fourth set. It’s nothing too concerning, but bettors expected better play out of the one-seed in the third round.

Today Alcaraz faces Matteo Berrettini, who will pose a solid threat. Berrettini made it to the finals the last time he played at Wimbledon, but illness and injuries have kept him out of three of the last five majors. He’s a contender if he can return to his 2021 form.

Berrettini is a championship contender, and if Alcaraz doesn’t step up his game, his time at Wimbledon may be over. Berrettini may not go the full distance to upset Alcaraz, but he should have no trouble covering all his offerings.

Daniil Medvedev V. Jiri Lehecka

Daniil Medvedev has been tearing through this tournament; the Russian has only dropped one set through three rounds. Many were excited about his matchup with Tommy Paul, but due to an upset, he faces Jiri Lehecka instead.

Lehecka is coming off an epic with Paul. That third-round matchup went five sets, with fifty-five games and forty-one tie-break points. Lehecka gave Paul everything he had, so he moved on to the round of sixteen. However, his moment in the spotlight is up. He will be burned out and have nothing left for Medvedev, who has cruised through this tournament.

This will be the first time Medvedev has made it past the fourth round of Wimbledon. He has never fared well on the soft court but is playing great now. His time will likely end in the quarter-finals against Stefanos Tsitsipas, but he certainly can’t be counted out.

Daniil Medvedev 3-0 (+155)
Under 37.5 Games (-112)
