UFC 293: Adesanya vs Strickland Best Bets

Bet #1: Tai Tuivasa / Alexander Volkov OVER 1.5 Rounds -112 – To Win 1 Unit (FanDuel)

I don’t love this card from a betting perspective and this is a bet that you’re gonna be holding your breath through. Taking overs in a Tuivasa fight is not something I am generally looking to do. This bet has a lot to do with how I view Volkov. I think Volkov is a pretty high IQ fighter and has shown to be really durable. Volkov should look to slow this fight down and not engage into a war like Tai will want to do. I think this fight will out play much slower than people expect. Now it’s possible that Tai feels the energy from the crowd and looks to get aggressive early but I am banking on Volkov being a high IQ vet and avoiding brawling. It’s going to be a sweat but I think the over 1.5 is the side here.

Bet #2: Kevin Jousset by Decision +350 – Risk 0.5 Units (FanDuel)

Kevin Jousset is making his UFC debut coming in with an 8-2 pro record. I think Jousset has some decent striking abilities. Nothing that will blow you out of the water but he does the basics pretty well. He has good size for the division and will hold a 3 inch height and 5 inch reach advantage in this spot. One of his better attributes is his cardio. He has shown to be able to maintain a solid pace throughout his fights. Kiefer Crosbie is also making his UFC debut this week. He fought in Bellator from 2018 to 2021 and during that time went 4-3. His level of opponents have not been great in his lead up to the UFC. He has no real grappling upside and is going to want to keep this on the feet as well. Crosbie does have some power in his hands but he lacks proper technique. He’s throwing looping shots often hoping to land that shot and hurt his opponent but if he’s not able to do that, he is likely to get pieced up. Defensively, he’s not great. Keeps his head on the center line and is willing to take damage. Neither one of these guys have shown much ability to be successful on the mat. So, I think this plays out on the feet at a high clip. I also think both of these guys are fairly durable. I like Jousset to get this one done. I view him as the better overall striker and unless Crosbie is able to land that big shot early, I think the size and cardio for Jousset will be enough for him to win a decision.
