Top 5 PrizePicks Plays on the Day – 7/20/23

Here are my five favorite PrizePicks bets for today. Flex them all, or pick and choose your favorites.

#1 – Tyler Glasnow Under 8 Strikeouts

Glasnow takes the mound tonight against division-rival Baltimore; this will be the second time he has faced the Orioles this season. In June, he allowed six runs on six hits but recorded seven strikeouts over four and a third.

That was the only time Glasnow allowed more than three runs in a start this season. So there is no reason to expect a similar start for him, but it would be wild to expect nine strikeouts.

Glasnow has achieved 9+ strikeouts only twice this season, both times against teams known for their high strikeout totals. Today, he is up against Baltimore, a team that averages 8.16 strikeouts per nine innings. Barring a complete game from Glasnow, it’s highly unlikely that he will reach that strikeout total.

#2 – Hogan Harris Under 4.5 Strikeouts

We have another gift from PrizePicks.

A team that strikeouts even less than the Baltimore Orioles is the Houston Astros. Today, the Astors are taking on Hogan Harris and the Oakland A’s.

Harris is making his fifth start of the season; after doing some solid relief work, Oakland promoted him to the rotation.

The lefty has averaged .85 Ks an inning. In a May encounter, he came out of the bullpen to pitch five innings against the Astros, delivering an outstanding performance with zero runs allowed and five strikeouts. This was quite remarkable, considering that the Astros typically perform well against left-handed pitchers. However, it’s unlikely to be repeated today. Houston has already seen his pitching, and as a team that rarely strikes out, they should have a better chance at hitting him this time around.

#3 – Patrick Wisdom Over 0.5 Total Bases

Patrick Wisdom has had a rather tough year so far, currently batting .200 with a .785 OPS. His struggles, among other reasons, have contributed to the Cubs being seven games out of a playoff spot. However, there seems to be a positive change recently. In his last five games, Wisdom has managed to get five hits and four walks.

With this short prop he just needs to reach base for a payout, so while it’s not a sure thing, he should keep this little heater alive for the PrizePicks players.

#4 – Jace Peterson Under 0.5 Total Bases

Having a worse season than Patrick Wisdom is Jace Peterson. Peterson enters play with a .212 batting average and an OPS of .630.

While the third baseman did have a solid showing last night, hitting a home run with two walks. It was the first time in a long while he had a game worth talking about. Seeing how infrequently he does this, bettors should stay the course and count on him to go Ofer tonight.

#5 – Sophie Cunningham Under 16.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Sophie Cunningham had an outstanding game recently, scoring 17 points, securing six rebounds, and adding an assist. Observing such a performance, it might seem like betting the over on her tonight would be an easy choice. However, in the six games leading up to that exceptional one, she only managed a total of 27 points.

Cunningham’s statistics have been quite inconsistent throughout this season. While she started off well, her contributions to the team have diminished in recent times. Although there’s a chance she could shine again tonight, bettors would be wise to continue to fade her on PrizePicks.
