Tampa Bay Lightning @ Columbus Blue Jackets As the NHL season winds down, Tampa makes their final trip north to take on the Blue Jackets. They come into tonight looking to expand on their 4 game win streak and prepare to defend their title once again. Tampa is right back in the mix this season as they can lock up 3rd in the Atlantic division with a win tonight, leading to a first round match up against Toronto. The Blue Jackets on the other hand are just looking for anything positive to end the season on. This is a tale of two teams, the Lightning have dominated in the last month, going over 30% on the power play and almost doubling their opponents on the score sheet. Columbus on the other hand has had a tough time generating scoring opportunities, being out shot by 7 shots on average. That can likely be blamed on their injuries, they’re missing a ton of key pieces which can make it difficult to get anything going. Tampa has gotten hot at the right time and I think that keeps up tonight.
Bet: Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 (+100)
Florida Panthers @ Ottawa Senators Florida looks to make one last push for the Presidents Trophy this year as they head to Ottawa tonight. One problem for them.. they’re sitting half the team tonight. Their playoff position is locked so there is no need to risk their stars. This gives Ottawa a prime chance to steal a late season win and make bettors everywhere happy. Ottawa hasn’t been the best team in the world but given how many players will be scratched on Floridas bench, if there was ever a time to bet on the Senators, it’s now. I don’t have a many numbers on this since these are last minute scratches, but this is the Sens time to shine.
Bet: Ottawa Senators ML (+140)
Washington Capitals @ New York Islanders Alright, as I’ve said before, I’m a salty Penguins fan so for my sanity I need the Islanders to win this game against the Capitals. The Caps will be without Ovechkin tonight as he battles injury and gets ready for the playoffs. While Washington is up 2-1 on the Islanders this season, I hope the Islanders will feel bad for how poorly the Penguins have played lately and lend a helping hand. Both teams have struggled over the last month on the power play, but make up for it with their penalty killing ability. This should play into the Islanders advantage since that is more the style of hockey they play anyway, as the offense first Capitals could struggle to adjust. I’m picking this mostly for my sanity, but no Barry Trotz coached team will ever be an easy win.
Bet: New York Islanders Money Line (+115)
