The Baltimore Ravens head south to Tampa Bay to open up Week 8.

After starting the season 2-1, the Ravens have hit a bit of a skid, losing two of their last three. They edged out the Browns on Sunday to pick up that one win.

Similarly, the Buccaneers started the year with two wins and since have lost four of their last five. In addition, they are coming off a horrendous game against the Carolina Panthers, who severed them a 21 – 3 L.

That loss can be looked at in one of two ways, it’s either this team’s lowest point, and they’ll bounce back strong tonight. Or, it’s just indicative of what a sorry team Tampa Bay actually is. With Tom Brady, I’m betting on a bounce-back spot.

It’s just gravy that the Ravens have the fourth-worst pass defense in the league.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens balled out the first few weeks, but they’ve looked neutered of late, averaging twenty points a game in their last four. That’s against some mediocre defenses too, so there is no reason to think things will improve against an incredible Tampa Bay defense.

The one way Baltimore could win this game is if they can efficiently move the ball on the ground. Stopping the run has been the one weak spot in Tampa’s defense, and with the electric legs of Lamar Jackson, he can give his team a fighting chance. The concern comes if the Buccaneers take an early lead, forcing Baltimore to the air.

This should be a fun Thursday Night Game. It will be close, competitive, but probably low scoring. While it shouldn’t be anything like Washington vs. Chicago, the under is still the smart play. It will be close to forty total points, but Tampa Bay should keep the under in play.

Tampa Bay -1.5 (-115) & Under 45.5 Points (-105)
