MATCHUP SUMMARY
It’s hard to gauge this Houston Texans team off their first-week game vs how bad Urban Meyer and the Jags looked in their first game Sunday. I thought Tyrod Taylor looked good out there completing 21 of 33 passes for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns. He ended the game with a 112 QBR. Mark Ingram appears to be the bell cow here carrying the ball 26 times on his 36 snaps played. Lindsay played 20 of 78 snaps and carried the ball 8 times, while David Johnson was used more in the passing game and caught 3 of his 4 targets for 18 yards and a touchdown. Most people pegged this Texans team to be the worst team in the league heading into the season and I expect the Browns to have their way with them here.
The Cleveland Browns played excellent for 3 quarters last week but choked down the stretch when the pressure mounted. Mayfield passed for over 300 yards and completed 75% of his passes. The Browns split snaps between Chubb and Hunt nearly right down the middle as Chubb played 31 snaps to Hunts 28. Chubb was the main workhorse though carrying the ball 15 times to Hunt’s 6 and Chubb had 6 goal-line carries to Hunt’s 3. I think it will be tough for either RB to have a ceiling game when both are healthy. We need to pay attention to the status of OBJ heading into next week’s game as he missed last week’s game allowing Anthony Schwartz the ability to see 5 targets in the passing game, catching 3 of those for 69 yards. Both Njoku and Hooper were also present in the passing game.
I expect the Browns to have their way with the Texans here and I think Hunt could see an expanded role here mainly in the 2nd half if the Browns get up big. I will not be actively seeking players from this game unless it is “one off’s” for GPPs.
THE DFS GEMS
Kareem Hunt, CLE – $5,800 on DraftKings. I think Hunt makes for a solid upside GPP target here as he could see an uptick in his workload if the Browns mount a lead early.
Tyrod Taylor, HOU – $5,500 on DraftKings. I thought Taylor looked solid last week passing for nearly 300 yards and he showed off the upside he has with his legs rushing for 40 yards. This is more so a Milly Maker type play here but could rack up some garbage time stats.
