Tabor’s Takes MLB Breakdown – 07/06/23

We have just a 6 game slate this evening. I’m prioritizing my spends on pitcher here because I think a lot of people land in the mid tier. The Guardians and some pieces from the Mets and Diamondbacks make this build pretty easy to construct. Let’s dive in!

I only play one lineup every day. My style of play is definitely geared towards MME although I’m a single entry player and i feel it gives me a massive edge in these high stake contests. I’ve made a 6 figure profit using this style of play in MLB ALONE for 5 straight seasons now. You’ll always find some hot takes and low owned stacks in these articles to give yourself that same edge.

Pitching Core

George Kirby- My number 1 today. His numbers against righties are so fricken good. 25% K’s, 1.4% walks, 0.093 ISO, only 6.5% barrels. The Astros once again are bringing 8 right handed bats to the plate and if you like building on numbers like I do then you can’t ignore Kirby in this spot.

Nate Eovaldi- If you like redemption narratives then you’ve got Eovaldi returning to his old home in Boston tonight to face the Red Sox. If you don’t care about the narrative then you’ve still got plenty to like. Eovaldi is Mr consistent and he definitely has the longest leash on this slate. He gets so much weak contact from lefties that the Red Sox aren’t scaring me at all here. We only have 6 games to work with on this main slate, so the consistency and safety Nate Eovaldi brings is much appreciated.

Other Options

Tanner Bibee- Bibee has been pretty impressive to start his big league career. He’s striking out a man per inning which is always good for DFS, and he’s been really good at home. Today he’s at home with a nut matchup vs the Royals. Bibee has actually shown reverse splits so far, which should be good in this matchup where he’s projected to see 6 batters from the left side. The only hiccup is that the good Royals hitters, Salvy and Bobby Witt Jr, both hit from the right side.

Kyle Bradish- This isn’t really a matchup play at all, righties have been his crutch and the Yankees have Giancarlo Stanton and a couple other scary ones. Bradish is red hot though, scoring 20+ DK points in his last 3 starts and 4 of his last 5. It seems as though he figured something out, and this is a high end arm from this Orioles system.

Stack Em

Rangers- I’ve pitched Kutter Crawford a few times this year, but a matchup with Texas is certainly not the time to do it. Last year lefties absolutely crushed Crawford, this year the righties are doing more damage. Overall, everyone 1-9 looks appealing here at Fenway.

Guardians- A 5.7 total that leads the entire slate is appealing when it’s a team like the Guardians. Jordan Lyles is on the mound and he just gives up hard hits after hard hits. I want to focus on the lefties. Jose Ramirez is one of the best bats in the big leagues, and Andres Giminez seems to be getting hot as of late so they are my favorites.

Diamondbacks- 3 stacks in my core here because I love all 3 of these teams. There’s a good chance I go 3-3-2 with my build today just because I love some of these specific matchups. I mentioned Jose Ramirez and Andres Giminez for the Guardians, and here I love Christian Walker and Corbin Carrol against Carlos Carrasco. Everyone 1-9 is also in play for this one.

Other Stacks

Mets- Ryne Nelson is not good and the Mets seemed to come to life last weekend. This team has disappointed all year long so it’s hard to click this button at times but a good matchup at a hitters park has the Mets on my board.
