MATCHUP SUMMARY

Pittsburgh enters off a short week while winning two of their last three. The Steelers have slim shots at a wild card birth. They are really paying for pride and building momentum with a young offense for next season. Meanwhile the Falcons are fighting for a chance to win the pitiful NFC South. The biggest news to watch throughout the week is the condition of Najee Harris. He left the Monday night game early.

This Steelers offense is now under the wings of Kenny Pickett. Over his past three games Pickett has been solid. My concern is his upside, yet to score 20+ fantasy points. He can get the job done on the ground which is a plus for that upside finally hitting. Diontae Johnson and George Pickens continue to earn the vast majority of targets. Johnson earns plenty of receptions but his yards are dismal. He needs to find the end zone due to this. Pickens has the upside to earn more fantasy points due to his ability to obtain yards. Pat Freiermuth is option three but like Johnson is touchdown dependent. Although the Falcons are vulnerable against the run 100 yards. If Najee is out I don’t mind Benny Snell in large field deep gpp’s.

Not much interest in Marcus Mariota. He struggles to throw the ball with running being his upside. Personally, I would go with Pickett over Mariota if choosing between the two. Kenny has a much better passing upside. Running the ball is Atlanta’s strength, defending the run is the Steelers strength. With Cordarrelle Patterson and Tyler Allgeier splitting time I will pass on both. As for the wideouts in Atlanta they all split minimal targets. Thus I will be passing on them. Overall I am not super excited about this game from a fantasy perspective. If you do take shots the positive is low ownership on selected player.

THE DFS GEMS

PIttsburg Steelers, $2,600. The price helps find upside at other positions. The return of Watt helps the team overall. Sacks can be had on Mariota and the game should be low scoring. The hope is to find a couple turnovers and the end zone.

George Pickens, Steelers-$5,100. Pickens continues to improve. At his price a 5 catch 100 yard game finding the end zone with be a nice find at lower ownership.
