MATCHUP SUMMARY
The Steelers finished 12-4 a year ago but backed into the playoffs going 1-4 in their last 5 games and that led to a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Browns. Their defense carried them through the season as they ranked in the top 5 in both passing and rushing. Big Ben really struggled down the stretch to make plays, but it appears he is in really great shape this season and should turn it around. The Steelers also added the best running back prospect in the draft in Najee Harris who will be a monster out of the backfield.
Josh Allen is coming off a remarkable season finishing with 4500 yards passing and 30 Touchdowns, as well as finishing runner up in the MVP race. They had a disappointing loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, so they will be hungry to make it to the Super Bowl this season. Stefon Diggs is coming off of an INCREDIBLE season as well with 127 receptions and leading the league in receiving yards with 1535. Their rushing attack is almost non-existent outside of Josh Allen, and they will be relying on big plays down the field.
THE DFS GEMS
Josh Allen, BUF – $7,400 on DraftKings. While the matchup versus the Steelers isn’t as good this week, this Bills team will continue to push the ball down the field in the air. With their 27.5 implied total, I expect a monster day here. Will be a popular option on week 1.
Stefon Diggs, BUF – $7,600 on DraftKings. Always has a monster floor as he averaged over 10 targets per game last season. I’m expecting similar results this season and even improving on his 10 TDS. Like Allen, he will be a popular play this week.
Dionte Johnson, PIT – $6,300 on DraftKings. Following a 1000 yard season last year, I’m expecting him to really improve on that this season. He was a target monster from Big Ben last season averaging 10 targets per game. A great option here on week 1 as a game stack run back.
