MATCHUP SUMMARY
The Minnesota Vikings (4-5) broke a two-game losing streak last week with a big road win in Los Angeles over the Chargers 27-20. Kirk Cousins was impressive in the win completing 25 of 37 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Dalvin Cook led the way on the ground rushing 24 times for 94 yards and a touchdown. Justin Jefferson caught 9 passes from Cousins for 143 yards and tight end Tyler Conklin caught two touchdowns.
This week the Vikings will look to carry over the momentum from last week when they welcome in the NFC Central-leading Green Bay Packers to US Bank Stadium. The Vikings clearly have a lot of weapons to win this matchup but will have to do it against a Packers defense that has allowed only 9.6 points per game over their last five games. Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen are always nice options but I will side with Dalvin Cook and the running game to grind the clock and keep Rodgers off the field.
Aaron Rodgers returned to the Packers offense last week in a 17-0 win over Seattle in Lambeau Field. Rodgers missed the game in Kansas City a week prior, a game in which the Packers lost 13-7 ending their 7-game winning streak. Starting running back Aaron Jones left last week’s game in the third quarter when he sustained an MCL sprain of his right knee and is expected to miss a couple weeks. In his absence backup AJ Dillon picked up the slack with 66 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also had 2 catches for 62 yards. Davante Adams was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. We will need to monitor his progress as the week goes on but if he is able to go would be in line for a big game here against the weak Vikings secondary.
THE DFS GEMS
Aaron Rodgers, GBP – $7,000 on DraftKings. Cheap price tag considering the nice matchup. I look for a big bounce back game from Rodgers after not throwing a touchdown pass last week.
Davante Adams, GBP – $8,400 on DraftKings. If you want to spend up at WR this week he is my top play. Will need to check his injury status.
AJ Dillon, GBP – $6,200 on DraftKings. Has looked good when given the opportunity this year and with Jones out a few weeks I think he makes for a nice option here.
Dalvin Cook, MIN – $8,200 on DraftKings. If the Vikings are to pull off an upset two weeks in a row they will need to have a big game from Cook.
