Detroit Red Wings (+130) @ Washington Capitals (-150)
Detroit is my favorite dog on the slate, they simply won’t die. They have the second best power play in the league, and while the Capitals are a fairly disciplined team they should have no issues scoring on a penalty kill averaging around a 75% success rate should they get the chance.
Honestly, not as many numbers support this play as I would generally like to see but the Capitals aren’t the same team without Ovechkin in the line up and the Red Wings are are playing fantastic hockey lately.
Detroit Red Wings Money Line (+130)
Montreal Canadiens (+275) @ New Jersey Devils (-330)
This should be an absolute smash spot for the Devils. Being one of the best teams in the league they get a woeful Canadiens team tonight. Due to the heavy odds here I had to get a little creative and go to the Alternate over of 5.5 to put with the Devils Puck Line. The Devils themselves can hit that 5.5 total and are actually projected to do so with an implied total of 5.9 goals.
In actuality the Devils may not get there themselves, but even with their implied total being .25 goals the Habs can certainly sneak in a goal or 2 to hit that over. The Devils are going to be too much for this Canadiens team and should have no issues hammering this Puck Line.
New Jersey Devils -1.5 + Alt. Over 5.5 Total Goals (+150)
Philadelphia Flyers (+260) @ Edmonton Oilers (-315)
I could copy and paste the above paragraph into this spot as it’s a near identical situation. The Oilers should hammer the Flyers tonight who continue their disaster of a road trip. Their power play is pretty much automatic, especially tonight against a Flyers penalty kill that’s only stopping the puck 75% of the time.
If you don’t watch hockey the Oilers have Connor McDavid, who is better at hockey than I’ve ever been at anything in my life. He is a real life cheat code.
Even with that, the Oilers aren’t bullet proof. They’ll absolutely be scored on but there are very few teams that can compete with the Oilers in the track meet I expect this match up to be.
