NHL Bets Blog – NHL 12/8/2022

Great 3-0 last night. Tage Thompson is inhuman, single handedly covering the Sabres team total.. in the first period. Ending the game with 5, he absolutely broke the DFS slate and caused the Blue Jackets to pull their goalie twice.

Boston did as expected against an AHL line up, the 3rd line crushed. Igor and Rangers had a nice bounce back, handing the Kings a 5-1 loss in their home barn with Igor stopping 25/25 shots.

We have a 5 game slate tonight, and if the Blues screw me again I won’t be happy about it.

Winnipeg Jets (-125) @ St. Louis Blues (+105)

St. Louis did what many thought was impossible last game, win. Shoving 5 down Sorokins throat, and putting up a touchdown overall. Tonight they face an arguably better goalie in Connor Hellebuyck and I don’ think lightning will strike twice. The Blues remain without Buchnevich and Krug, dealing a blow to their depth on both ends of the ice.

What I like here is that Binnington must have been put into timeout because Griess is getting back to back starts for the first time this year. He played decent last game, decent enough to win but he still isn’t a great goalie.

The Jet’s are a better team than the Islanders in my opinion, and although they’re on home ice, the Blues don’t have a quality win in their home barn. They’ve lost anytime one of the big players comes into town, this is no different. St. Louis made me eat my words last time but I really like the Jets here. Money Line is a safer bet and actually pays pretty nice at -125 so I don’t hate that, but the win in regulation looks nice.

Detroit Red Wings (+175) @ Florida Panthers (-205)

This play is entirely contingent on Alex Nedelijkovic getting the start for Detroit. Different sites say different things with nothing being confirmed so I wouldn’t place this until closer to puck drop. Should he be in net, I expect the Sun Kitties to light the lamp a ton.

Over their last 5 home games the Panthers have averaged 4.4 goals on 36.6 shots. With the possibility of Barkov returning to the line up the Panthers could put on a clinic against a goalie averaging 4 GAA and .878 SV% on the road. Even if he isn’t in I like this play, Ned is the only factor. Florida hasn’t been as good with out Barkov but they still have other elite goal scorers who can get the job done.

Florida Panthers Team Total Over 3.5 Goals (-130)

Ottawa Senators (+170) @ Dallas Stars (-200)

Dallas looks to bounce back tonight after being shut out on home ice by the Leafs the other day. While the Stars aren’t as solid defensively as they started the year, they’re still an elite squad. Their top line is firing on all cylinders, with Robertson averaging a goal a game in their last 5 even with the shut out.

They go up against Anton Forsberg in net, who is averaging 3.27 GAA on the road, and while has a decent .919 SV%, the number is a little skewed because he has been absolutely peppered in a few games, seeing 57 shots in one instance. He has yet to win a game on the road, and with the Stars coming off a somewhat embarrassing loss, you can expect them to come out guns blazing to make VIP a happy man.
