YTD (43-38-2)

The heater continues after the Kaprizov goal helped to capped off a 3-1 night. Pens finally got back into the win column so my sanity is as intact as it can be. A nice 10 gamer for tonights action, with some high end match ups to watch. We have the return of Eichel to Buffalo, an Original 6 match up in Detroit, and a heavy weight show down in Raleigh.

Ottawa Senators (+155) @ NJ Devils (-180)

This is a tale of two cities, as NJ looks to continue it’s 7 game win streak while the Sens look to shake off a 6 game losing streak. I don’t think the Sens do it tonight. New Jersey has dominated in almost every game, they’re outshooting opponents by 13+ on average, while Ottawa gives up an average of 33 shots a game. I like the Sens and they’re a fun team to watch but I don’t see them pulling this win off on the road.

NJ Devils to Win in Regulation (-115)

Vegas Golden Knights (-165) @ Buffalo Sabres (+140)

I want to start this by saying this is almost entirely a narrative play. Jack Eichel returns to Western New York after their messy divorce last season. Since it’s his first game back he should be feasting on the Boos, and of course he’s going to score. Over the last 10 games he leads the team with his 26 shots, going against a tendy tonight that averages 3.34 GAA. Vegas plays a much better overall game, while Buffalo allows way more shots, making this a prime spot for Marv from Home Alone to put one in the net.

Jack Eichel Any time Scorer (+140)

San Jose Sharks (+135) @ St. Louis Blues (-155)

It’s pretty bold of Vegas to have the Blues as such heavy favorites in this game with how they’ve been playing. They’ve been absolute booty to start the year, losing their last 8 games. While I do think they’re due for a win (famous last words in this world), I think these odds are incredibly generous. Sharks ML for +135 is not a bad play whatsoever right now, if you’re more of a game lines person. The Blues main issue during their losing streak has been complete lack of defense. Bring in Timo Meier, the man I want to talk about.

Meier accounts for 13% of his teams shots this year, with how the Blues have been playing defense he may honestly have 8 shots tonight. He has one of the most underappreciated releases in the league and loves to show it off. If I had to bet on anyone from the Sharks to score tonight, it’s him. Or Karlsson but I like Timo tonight.

Timo Meier Anytime Scorer (+145)

Nashville Predators (+160) @  Colorado Avalanche (-190)

The Preds head to Denver tonight to take on the reigning champs. Neither team has had an exceptional start to the year, with the Preds underperforming to 3-6-1. The Avs have a ton of key injuries to deal with, 2 up front in the goal scoring department and 2 on the back end. This should allow the game to be a bit more open for the Preds to score some goals. Colorado has one of the deepest, if not the deepest, defensive cores in the league, with some of the 2nd and 3rd pairing guys being out it should create more space for the Preds depth lines to get in on the action. I’m not saying they’ll win, the Avs still have as much firepower as the death star, but I expect a fair amount of goals to go around tonight.
