YTD (132-134-2)

Another positive night in the books. Those smaller game slates can be tricky sometimes so I’m happy with the result. We have a massive slate of games tonight which seems to be the trend on Tuesdays. The early games tonight should be good ones but it’s that later slate that really caught my attention, there should be tons of action there.

Winnipeg Jets (-120) @ Nashville Predators (+100)

This should be a very good match up as two of the best goalies in the league go toe to toe. One of those goalies is Nashville’s Juuse Saros, he has been incredible on home ice this year. I honestly lean more toward the Jets tonight as a winner but I think Saros makes it difficult for them, cashing his save prop along the way.

Sitting at 28.5, Saros has hit that number more often than not in recent games, and the games where it missed were against teams that simply don’t shoot. Winnipeg is a shooting team, averaging 33 shots a game Saros will have his work cut out for him as Nashville allows 34 shots. I expect him to certainly see 30+ shots tonight and given his .922 SV% on home ice he should have no issues cashing his prop.

Anaheim Ducks (+115) @ Arizona Coyotes (-135)

You know I’m all over the Yotes when they’re the home dogs, but tonight they’re the home favorites and I actually lean toward the Ducks to pull out the win. Although that’s beside the point, I’m just here for the goals and I expect there to plenty in this match up. While they aren’t the most explosive offenses there is plenty of talent on these rosters and generally when bad defense meets bad offense, bad defense prevails.

This should be a very back and forth game as both teams allow almost 40 shots against a game, allowing for plenty of chances for scoring. One of the guys I expect to get in on the scoring in Coyotes defenseman Jakub Chychrun. I will say it’s been a while since he’s scored but he’s averaging 3 shots a game in his last 5 and those all came in much tougher match ups than this one. Anaheim is allowing almost 10 shots a game to defenseman so I expect him to be teeing it up.

I’m not sure if I’ve said it on here or not but I play goal scorer props much smaller, like a half unit at most. Hockey has a lot of variance and all it takes is the puck glancing off someone else to not count toward your player. It’s just not worth the risk of a full unit in my eyes.

Chicago Blackhawks (+190) at Vancouver Canucks (-225)

I still want to hate the Canucks for how they treated ‘Bruce there it is’, but this is too good an opportunity to pass up. With Rick Tocchet taking over the bench boss duties, Vancouver should have some new life to them to start this game. On paper this should be a stomping, but the Canucks are known for blowing leads.

Luckily in order to blow a lead you need to have a lead and that’s exactly what I expect the Canucks to have coming out of the first period. Chicago stinks, we all know that, and Vancouver can score goals if nothing else. This is probably my favorite play of the night. I think Vancouver comes out with a fire under their ass and hammers the Hawks early to make a statement.

I’ll go back to hating them tomorrow when they play Seattle.
