The Sid/Geno call worked out great even though that game certainly didn’t go as I expected it to. The Islanders on the other hand must hate me, blowing a 3 goal lead which led to a loss in OT to cap off the night. That’s unfortunately the way it goes sometimes.
Onto tonight we have a nice 8 game slate with plenty of great games. We discussed the entire slate on the RPS youtube channel so if you want some more insight into tonight head on over there to hear tons of different takes on the games.
Winnipeg Jets (-250) @ Montreal Canadiens (+210)
Get this one while you can, the Jets are even money Puck Line on Draft kings. I don’t take puck lines that don’t pay out less than +100, not worth the risk in my opinion. That being said the Jets should absolutely stomp the Habs tonight. Home ice or not, Montreal has tons of players out with injury right now while the Jets are running hot.
Coming into tonight on a 3 game win streak the Jets should have no issue extending that to 4 against a Canadiens team that’s allowing 4 goals a game. A major factor in that is how many penalties they take, averaging over 4 a game. Facing a Jets Power Play that’s sc0ring on over 30% of their opportunities will be a tough task for Montembeault in net.
Although I wouldn’t call them a favorite play tonight, I certainly do like both Ehlers and Connor to record a power play point tonight. It’s paying out +225 and +140 respectively. Just one has to hit to pay for the other but I wouldn’t be shocked at all for them both to hit.
Winnipeg Jets -1.5 (+100)
Buffalo Sabres (-190) @ Chicago Blackhawks (+160)
The Tage Thompson show is coming to Chicago, and after a quiet few games he should be ready to absolutely pop off. Recording 3 points in their last meeting I expect a similar result tonight. I like the Sabres in this match up even being on a road back to back, Chicago isn’t very good. They did go to overtime last time but a huge difference tonight is Chicago is expect to start Petr Mrazek in net.
Mrazek comes into tonight with an abysmal 4.26 GAA and .875 SV%, which won’t go well facing one of the most electric lines in hockey with Tage/Tuch/Skinner. Buffalo hasn’t been the poster child for good hockey either but I think this is a fantastic get right game for them, with Thompson leading that charge.
Tage Thompson Over 1.5 Points (+165)
Buffalo Sabres Win in Regulation (-115)
Detroit Red Wings (-130) @ Arizona Coyotes (+110)
Yotes are home dogs, you know what that means! Just kidding not tonight, while I do think they could win this game I simply don’t trust Ingram in net. In fact I don’t trust either goalie tonight putting the over in play.
Both of these teams stink defensively, allowing a combined 4.25 GAA. Part of that can be attributed to the fact that neither has a penalty kill over 75% while averaging 3 penalties a game. Everything about this game tells me that defense will be entirely optional and we could see a flood of goals.
The over is paying even money right now on DK at 6.5, but has shifted from an even 6 goals this morning. I’m not sure where this lower total came from as both teams have shown they can score goals, with the Coyotes averaging 3.6 goals and the Wings just under 3 goals a game.
