MATCHUP SUMMARY

The Bengals travel to New Orleans off a narrow loss to the Ravens last week. Joe Burrow completed 24 of 35 passes for 217 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Burrow only averaged 6.2 yards per attempt as he struggled to push the ball downfield. Ja’Marr Chase caught 7 or 12 targets for 50 yards. Chase is averaging 10.6 targets per game through the first 5 games. Hayden Hurst led the team in receiving yards catching 6 of 7 targets for 53 yards. Hurst found the endzone for the second straight week. Joe Mixon carried the ball 14 times for 78 yards adding in 3 catches for 10 yards. Tyler Boyd struggled to get separation and only caught 3 passes for 32 yards. Tee Higgins left the game early due to injury and is something to monitor heading into week 6.

The Saints come off a 2nd half-comeback win over the Seattle Seahawks. Taysom Hill was active all over the field blocking, passing, and rushing. Hill threw 1 touchdown pass, rushed for 122 yards on 9 carries, scored 3 touchdowns, and was present as a lead blocker when needed. Alvin Kamara carried the ball 23 times for 103 yards and led the team in receiving and catching 6 passes for 91 yards. The bad thing about rostering Kamara is seeing Taysom vulture all the rushing touchdowns. The rookie, Chris Olave caught 4 of 6 targets for 54 yards and 1 touchdown before leaving due to injury. Tight end Adam Trautman caught the touchdown pass from Taysom Hill.

The total in this game is only 43.5, but there are some paths to this game shooting out. The Saints just gave up 3 passing touchdowns to Geno Smith and now they face Joe Burrow and the high-octane Bengals passing attack. If Tee Higgins is able to play, I could see the Bengals putting up similar numbers to what Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf did last week. The Saints offense has multiple pass catchers on the injury report and will need them back in order to match the Bengals score for score. Players to watch leading up to the game are Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Jarvis Landry.

THE DFS GEMS

Joe Burrow, CIN – $6,700 on DraftKings. Burrow has a fair price tag here but we need to see him push the ball more downfield to unlock his ceiling.

Ja’Marr Chase, CIN – $7,700 on DraftKings. Chase is averaging over 10 targets a game this season and maybe leaned on more so if Higgins is forced to miss the game.

Alvin Kamara, NO – $6,700 on DraftKings. Kamara has a nice tag here again this week in the mid-6Ks. Kamara might be leaned on a lot more in the passing game depending on injuries to their pass catchers.
