NFL WEEK 5 EARLY SLATE GPP STRATEGY

NFL WEEK 5 EARLY SLATE GPP STRATEGY

What’s up everyone!!! I am incredibly excited for the NFL to be BACK!!! RunPureSports is absolutely going to NUKE this NFL season. This is a new article for me this year. Last season, I had A TON of success playing the EARLY ONLY slate in tournaments. There is little to no EARLY ONLY specific content in the DFS space as most focus on the Main Slate. We usually get like 7-8 games on the early slate vice 12-13 games on the main slate.

STACKS

  1. TEXANS – CJ Stroud has simply been amazing and keeps putting up points no matter who he is facing. While on paper, this isn’t a good spot for Stroud, his ownership will def reflect that. He has a massive 1200 yards passing after 4 weeks. Just incredible. It could be a Tank Dell spike week here with AJ Terrell likely covering Nico Collins most of the game. Dell had a season high 70% of the snaps last week. Robert Woods could also see a spike game here and I like him as well. On the other side, I really only have interest in Bijan Robinson. Jonnu Smith is def in play as he seems to be the preferred target over Pitts.
  2. DOLPHINS – Only a 6 game early slate this week, and this stack will be MEGA, but may be hard to get away from. If you follow his box score pattern, its a Cheetah explosion week here. He has a massive 30% target share as well as a massive 45+% air yard share on the season. Waddle is always in play for stacks that dont include Tyreek as well and will be much lower owned. Achane is projected to be the 2nd highest owned RB on the slate here. I like going to Mostert a lot in tournaments, but both are obviously good plays as they are massive 12.5 point home favorites. I also don’t hate taking a shot on Daniel Jones here as we saw what Allen did to this defense last week. Barkley is still questionable as of this writing, but I don’t have any interest in him at his tag on DK. Darius Slayton, Wandale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt are my favorite runbacks. Wandale is going to be mega, so going Slayton or Hyatt make perfect GPP pivots. No interest in Waller here as I think he is very overrated.

RUNNING BACKS

  1. DAVID MONTGOMERY – 6600 – Will likely come in as the 3rd highest owned RB on the slate after Bijan and Achane. Absolutely LOVE him here at home as a 9.5 point favorite. Carolina has been SEETHING yards to running backs. All in spot here.
  2. ALVIN KAMARA – 6300 – Simply way too cheap for Kamara here. In his season debut he had 11 rushes and a massive 13!! targets. I could see something similar here as I am expecting Bill trying to lock down Olave. LOVE him here.
  3. DERRICK HENRY – 7500 – I prefer the 2 above straight up and price included, but I will also be mixing in the KING here in Indy against the Colts. Coming off a 122 yard 1 TD game where he also threw for a TD!
Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10) receives a pass for a first down against the Cincinnati Bengals during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023.

WIDE RECEIVERS

  1. DEANDRE HOPKINS – 5700 – Incredible spot for the old man dhop this week. The colts have been awful versus opposing WRs and Burks will mis this game as well.
  2. ADAM THIELEN – 5100 – He is averaging 8 targets per game this season and is def the preferred target for Bryce Young.
  3. JOSH REYNOLDS – 4200 – Amon-Ra is doubtful for this game. Reynolds is also currently questionable, but he practiced in full on Friday. LOVE him here and also dont hate taking some shots on Kalif Raymond if Jameson Williams misses.

TIGHT ENDS

  1. SAM LAPORTA – 5000 – Going to be massively owned, but kinda hard to get away form this week with Amon-Ra expected to be out. 27 targets through 4 weeks and that was with Amon-Ra IN.
  2. MARK ANDREWS – 5500 – Will be the 2nd highest owned TE on the slate but likely half Laporta’s ownership.
  3. CHIG OKONKWU- 3100 – Treylon Burks is out for this game, which should give Chig more opportunities. Will be chalky. I def prefer spending up with Andrews or LaPorta.

DEFENSE

  1. TITANS – 2400 – I am always spend down at D on my teams and this week wont be any different.  Will be chalky.
  2. SAINTS – 3000 – Really like the Saints D here in NE against Mac Jones who got benched last week.
  3. RAVENS – 4200 – Man, I love paying down for defenses, but the Ravens get an awful PIT team here this week. Should be a lower owned defense cause of price.
