Carolina let one slip away against the Browns after making a valiant comeback. This one could be hard for a team to overcome. Especially a team that doesn’t have many expected wins on the schedule. Just the opposite for the Giants. They fought back hard and ended on the winning side. Could this vault them forward with a bevy of confidence to become a surprise team this season. A 2-0 start would do wonders.
We have the battle of the running backs. The Panthers need to get Christian McCaffrey the ball. 14 touches isn’t nearly enough. I expect to see a full dose of McCaffrey running and catching. Baker was solid at best but like McCaffrey they need to open the field up with DJ Moore. He saw only 6 targets. This is a must win game for the Panthers and I expect them to lean heavily on there two stars. Whether it’s easy or not is another question. The Giants defense was solid, especially in half two against the Titans.
Daniel Jones was efficient only missing on four pas attempts. He spread the ball around but for them to continue winning he needs to get better. Kenny Golladay, Sterling Sheppard and Kadarius Toney must be more involved. The better those three play the more likely Saquan Barkley stays healthy and the beast he can always be. Barkley did it all out of the backfield. He had 6 receptions and 18 rushes while the yards are misleading due to his big run. I can see this game going multiple ways. It could be a snoozer or perhaps we do get a shootout. The latter will depend on the efficiency of the two quarterbacks.
THE DFS GEMS
Saquon Barkley, Giants- $7,300. A cash lock and a high owned GPP play. Do you ride the train or fade. The Panthers didn’t stop the Browns running attack so I feel things are on the upside for Mr. Barkley.
Christian McCaffrey, Panthers- $8,900. The obvious pivot off Saquon at what should be much lower ownership. Can the O-line create holes? I see this as a big game receiving for Christian. If he can find the yards on the ground he could have an elite game.
For me in this game it’s the two running backs. I don’t have enough confidence in either quarterback to make any of the wideouts elite from this game. Expect the Panthers to be playing from behind thus McCaffrey being used as a receiver more frequently. I don’t think pairing either together is the route, although shouldn’t be popular.
