NFL WEEK 2 EARLY SLATE GPP STRATEGY

NFL WEEK 2 EARLY SLATE GPP STRATEGY

What’s up everyone!!! I am incredibly excited for the NFL to be BACK!!! RunPureSports is absolutely going to NUKE this NFL season. This is a new article for me this year. Last season, I had A TON of success playing the EARLY ONLY slate in tournaments. There is little to no EARLY ONLY specific content in the DFS space as most focus on the Main Slate. We usually get like 7-8 games on the early slate vice 12-13 games on the main slate.

STACKS

  1. CHIEFS – I am seeing some ridiculously LOW ownership on the GOAT Pat Mahomes this week. I think Travis Kelce will suit up for this one. I have no clue why Pat is projecting to be so low owned as this game has the highest total on the week at 51.5 as of this writing. This is always a super easy stack too cause its just Pat and Kelce. I have no interest in anyone else here. The rest of the WR here is just playing roulette. The other side we have a few awesome run back options. Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones were in on 80+% of the snaps and dominated the targets. Evan Engram and ETN are also firmly in play here. I don’t hate running it back with 2 of these guys. With Jones back for KC, the Jags should have to focus on the passing game here. I also like Trevor Lawrence here, but he will be more popular.
  2. LIONS – Goff likely comes in the third highest owned here, but I like him a ton regardless. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds and Sam Laporta are my primary targets. The RBs here are in a timeshare and I have zero interest for DFS. On the other side, there are only 3 run back options IMO. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. I like Metcalf the most here, but Smith-Njigba is only 4500. The TE’s for the Seahawks are irrelevant.
  3. PACKERS – Jordan Love looked incredible in week 1. I dont think Watson will play here as he hasn’t practiced as of this writing. Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs led the team in target percentage in week 1, and are firmly in play here. Reed is still 3400….I also dont hate Luke Musgrave who had 4 targets. We need to keep an eye on the Aaron jones news here. If he misses, AJ Dillon would be a SMASH play at 5900 but also chalky. On the Falcons side, I like Allgeier a TON here as he got 18 touches last week and is only 5500. Bijan is FINE, but I prefer the 2400 savings. I dont think either will have much ownership at all. Patterson being in this week could muddy things a bit, but I still like it.
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (22) runs the ball before a fumble that was recovered for a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals during the second quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Nov. 27, 2022.

RUNNING BACKS

  1. DERRICK HENRY – 7400 – I have been targeting the Chargers with RBs for a few seasons now and I won’t be stopping this week. The Titans just didnt run the ball in the 2nd half at all last week, but knowing the DVOA, I am expecting the ground game to be a focal point here.
  2. ZACK MOSS – 4700 – Should slot in as the RB1 here as Deon Jackson had a horrible week 1. He had 18 touches for 28 yards and 2 fumbles. Love the cheap tag here and I am not seeing any ownership on him either.
  3. JOSHUA KELLEY – 5000 – Yet another RB play that I am seeing no ownership on this week and I love it. Ekeler hasn’t practiced yet this week and is in danger of missing week 2. He would be almost a lock button play if Ekeler misses IMO. I hope Ekeler plays to keep his % down. Him and Ekeler were basically a 50/50 split as far as total snaps. We know Kellen Moore loves to run out 2 RBs. He had 16 carries for 91 yards and 1 target in the passing game. Love him here.

WIDE RECEIVERS

  1. DAVANTE ADAMS – 7800 – Absolutely LOVE Davante this week, but so will everyone else. Meyers is doubtful which means Adams should get at least a 50% target share here. He and Meyers both had around a 35% share last week. I also don’t hate taking shot on Deandre Carter and Hunter Renfroe in MME.
  2. MIKE EVANS – 6200 – Evans is that guy that is just so consistent no matter who the QB is. He had a massive 29% target share in week 1 and is a big target for Baker to get the ball to. Love him here.
  3. NICO COLLINS – 4800 – Nico is the WR1 here. He had 11 targets, good for a 25% share for the team. Nice and clean matchup here at home against the Colts.

TIGHT ENDS

  1. IRV SMITH JR. – 3200 – I will def have Kelce on my main squad. I’m not in love with Irv at all here, but he is cheap and got 5 targets in week 1.
  2. KYLEN GRANSON – 3000 – 6 targets and 4 catches in week 1. You could do much worse at this price. Like him a bit.
  3. DONALD PARHAM JR. – 2900 – He played 50% of the snaps in week 1 and got 3 targets. Don’t hate taking a shot here.

DEFENSE

  1. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS – 3200 – We don’t have a defense that is going to be as high as the Commanders were last week. I think the Bucs will come in the highest owned vs Justin Fields and the Bears. I normally fade the chalk d though….
  2. GREEN BAY PACKERS – 3000 – The Falcons have severe QB issues. This Defense had 4 sacks along with an INT and a fumble recovery in week 1 at Chicago. Like them alot here.
  3. BALTIMORE RAVENS – 2800 – If Joe Burrow is going to continue to play while injured, I will continue to have interest in the opposing defense. These division games always end up being low scoring. My favorite defense on the week here.
