MATCHUP SUMMARY
The struggling 1-6 Texans take the road to visit the 6-2 Giants who are coming off of a bye week. This matchup is one of the lowest totals of the week, but there are definitely key plays from both sides which we can hone in on.
On the HOU side, it obviously all starts and ends with their work horse running back Dameon Pierce (6.3K). He will be one of the best plays of the week but ownership will surely follow. The passing attack becomes a lot more of a question mark as who knows who Davis Mills (5.1K) will have available at his disposal. Will Brandin Cooks (5.3K) want to play despite his desire to play for another team? Will Nico Collins (4K) be available to play coming back from injury? It all feels like a mess and will be something I aim to avoid apart from Brevin Jordan (2.6K) whose role has increased in the last 3 weeks (played on 46% of snaps in week 7 -> 56% in week 8 -> 63% in week 9).
On the opposite side for the Giants, Saquon Barkley (8.6K) should be well rested coming off of a bye and be ready to feast on this HOU defense who we love to play RBs against. Similar to HOU, Daniel Jones (5.7K) has had to deal with his own wide receiver carousel so it is really hard to have conviction on any of them. Wan’Dale Robinson (4.7K) would be my favorite of the bunch if I had to pick as I feel he’s the most talented. Tanner Hudson (2.6K) is a guy I don’t mind either as he caught 3 balls for 58 yards on 5 targets the week after Daniel Bellinger went down.
THE DFS GEMS
Saquon Barkley, NYG – $8,600 on DraftKings. Barkley’s legs are fresh off of a bye week and should be ready to feast on a Houston Texans defense who has been owned by opposing RBs all year.
Dameon Pierce, HOU – $6,300 on DraftKings. On the opposite side, the Giants have also been unable to stop the run giving up 5.4 yards per carry to opposing RBs. Pierce will have every opportunity to eat here as he is the true lead back for HOU.
Brevin Jordan, HOU – $2,600 on DraftKings. As I mentioned above, Jordan’s involvement has increased week to week since coming back from injury. The game log doesn’t show much promise but I am a believer in his talent and will buy low at the cheap tag.
