The Matt Ryan (5.5K) “Matty Ice” era begins in Indianapolis against a Texans team that looks pretty similar from last year. The Texans will be giving Davis Mills (5.3K) another shot at the starting QB position paired with a new rookie RB in Dameon Pierce (4.8K) who has risen up the draft boards all summer as he will be the RB1 for Houston going forward. Mills’ passing options will be similar to last year as Brandin Cooks (6.3K) will be the alpha WR while Nico Collins (4.2K) will look to improve on the end of his season last year. Brevin Jordan (3.1K) also looks to solidify his starting TE position while Pharaoh Brown (2.6K) could also make a case for this job as well.
Apart from Jonathan Taylor who is priced at (9.1K), the weapons Matt Ryan will have at his disposal will be very cheap this weekend. Michael Pittman (5.5K), Parris Campbell (3.3K), Alec Pierce (3.9K), Mo Alie-Cox (3.4K) will make for a very affordable stack which is interesting from a DFS perspective. You don’t have to break the bank either if you have some interest on the HOU side which I mentioned in the paragraph above.
Regardless, I do think the Colts handle business here as they are -7 favorites at home. JT should be able to continue his success in the run game while Matt Ryan will look to prove that he can still sling the ball at 37 years of age with a clear young alpha WR in Michael Pittman. I don’t think I will have full stack aspirations for this game from a DFS perspective, but I do think there are a few pieces here and there which you can use to help fill out your DFS lineup.
THE DFS GEMS
Jonathan Taylor, IND – $9,100 on DrafKings. JT was going overall #1 in many drafts this summer ahead of CMC. If Matt Ryan can display any sort of passing skills, JT’s game could open up even more. He is also the highest priced RB on DK which should keep his ownership somewhat in check.
Brandin Cooks, IND – $6,300 on DraftKings. Houston’s alpha WR1 by a long shot who garnered double digit targets 7 weeks last year. Davis Mills is also returning as a familiar face so their synergy should be even better this year (in theory).
Michael Pittman Jr, IND – $5,500 on DraftKings. Very cheap tag for an alpha WR1 who I consider is getting a QB upgrade in Matty Ice from Carson Wentz. Does project to be the chalkiest WR option on the slate so be aware of that when building out your lineups.
