NBA Best Bets – Lakers/ Nuggets Series Preview & Game 1 Prediction

Lakers @ Nuggets

The Lakers head to Denver to open up Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Despite the Nuggets being the top seed, only a few expected either team to be here. However, this is where we are, one series away from having our Finals representative.

The Lakers have had an interesting path to this point; after taking care of business in the Play-In Tournament, they flew past a banged-up Grizzlies team, and while it seemed like a fortunate draw had them in the conference semifinals, they proved to be the superior team against the Warriors.

As for one-seed Denver, they were not the favorite to win the West, but they have rolled through the playoffs. Despite their impressive showing, they are still not the favorite to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy. That honor goes to the team that struggled to eliminate the lowly 76ers.

Bettors now have the opportunity to give Denver their flowers, and still make some money off of them. This should be a quick series, five games max.

Series Spread: Denver -1.5 Games (+140)
Denver to Win the Finals (+230)

As for tonight’s game, bettors absolutely have to be on Denver. The Nuggets have yet to drop a playoff game at home, and they are 5-1 at the spread at Ball Arena.

Even if you think the Lakers win this series, there is no denying the struggle teams have when coming to Denver. LA may make things interesting in Game 2, but expect them to come out flat in Game 1.

Props are hard to play in this one, and we’ll have to see how AD handles Jokic. But, even if he can shut him down, the Nuggets have had no problem winning games even when Jokic doesn’t hit his point prop.

Denver -6 (-110)
Under 222.5 (-110)
