My mighty streak has come to an end. After picking ten straight games against the spread, the Broncos and Packers have humbled me. The Chiefs allowed me to bounce back, but 2-5 on props is not a good look. Thank goodness for Monday Night Football because I’ll start a bigger and better streak today.
Los Angeles Rams (+105) @ San Francisco 49ers (-130)
We have a great California matchup today, as two teams that have been underperforming meet up in this week’s edition of Monday Night Football.
Last week, Jimmy Garoppolo had his first start, and he did not play as well as anticipated. He barely completed half of his passes and =narrowly eclipsed 200 yards. An embarrassing safety by Garoppolo was the difference in the 10 – 11 defeat.
While the Rams enter play 2 – 1, they have had some issues through their first three weeks of play. After losing to the Bills in Week 1, they struggled with a terrible Atlanta team in Week 2. They allowed the Falcons to put up 17 in the fourth quarter and edged out a 27-31 victory. However, they looked better in Week 3, defeating the Cardinals, who have had plenty of issues of their own. Hopefully, their trend of improving slightly each week continues the whole season.
Last week was Garoppolo first start of the season, and his performance was underwhelming to say the least. However, he should take a step forward this week. Denver has one of the best defenses in the league, so he should do better against a lesser defense.
Lucky for bettors, Garoppolo only throwing for 211 yards last week, keeps his passing prop down, resulting in an easy play this week. While he should rack up the yards, he will still make mistakes as he always does. He threw 12 interceptions in the regular season last year, and one in each playoff game. That is a trend bettors should continue to wager on.
Jimmy G Over 221.5 Passing Yards (-115) & Over 0.5 Interceptions (+100)
Facing a gunslinger like Stafford, the 49ers’ defenses will have to have one hell of a night to keep them in this game. They have been great so far this season, but the offenses they have faced have been subpar — Chicago, Seattle, Denver. I don’t see why they are favored, as they will need both their defense and Jimmy G to be at their best to win this game. LA is the smart play.
