MLB Second Half Futures

The MLB season has gotten off to an electric start, filled with surprises and standout performances. The Reds, Rangers, and Diamondbacks have defied expectations, capturing the spotlight with their impressive displays on the field. Looking ahead to the second half of the season, most division leaders are well-positioned to maintain their current standings, with the exception of a fierce race in the American League West.

Division Futures

NL West, NL East, & AL East Parlay

The Braves (-5000), Rays (-210), and Dodgers (-230) will have no problem locking down their division to book their trip to the playoffs. Those are no doubters, and individually they are not worth betting on, but they can be parlayed together for a solid (+116) play.

NL & AL Central – Reds & Guardians

The Guardians (+140) hold a half-game lead in the AL Central, and the Reds (+130) are a game up on the Brewers in the NL Central. Both these teams have been playing so consistently that there is no reason to think they will relinquish first place. They both offer solid bets as, despite their position, they are not favored to win their division.

Additionally, the Guardians are poised to make a deep playoff run, but the Reds are not. Cincinnati is inexperienced; they are a young team that has a lot of promise. However, this is the year they grab everyone’s attention, crash and burn in the playoffs, and come back far stronger next season.

AL West – Astros

It’s highly unimaginative that this is the only division I believe will be turned over. So you can call me crazy, but be sure to check back in on these futures at the end of the season.

The Texas Rangers have been playing incredibly well, but they’re doomed to come back down to earth at some point in the second half. It won’t be a crazy crash, but enough for the Astros (+100) to take their sixth division title. I like the Rangers to make a playoff run; it will just have to be as a Wild Card team.

Player Awards

MVP Futures

Most of these awards are locked up at this point, and unless one of these players sustain an injury the race is over. While I would never ever root for an injury, there is one wager that is appealing on FanDuel.

Ronald Acuna Jr (-330) and Shohei Ohtani (-750) are locks for league MVP, however, if bettors want to roll the dice and bet on something crazy to happen, FanDuel is offering a future on the field.

Any player not named Acuna to win NL MVP (+240)
Any player not named Ohtani to win AL MVP (+460)

While it would take an act of God for one of these guys to not win, those odds are enough to make a bettor think… Gamble responsibly.

World Series Prediction

Call me a homer all you want, but I don’t see anyway the Atlanta Braves don’t take the pennant this season. Everything is clicking for them, and while plenty can happen over the next three months, bettors should expect them to keep it locked-in.

Atlanta Braves to Win the National League (+145)

The American League is far more open.

The Rays are playing incredibly well and have been flirting with a Championship for several years. However, it seems unlikely the two top dogs at the All-Star break will be playing in the World Series.

Going down the odds list, the Astros are up next, and of course, they always have a solid chance, but behind them are the Rangers and Yankees. Texas lacks the experience to make it this year, but my prediction for 2024 is a Texas V. Cincinnati World Series (BOOK IT!).

So give me New York with Houston as a backup. I will be laying futures on both, but my full prediction is a 1999 World Series rematch. However, Atlanta will come out on top this time.

Many will scoff at the idea of New York playing in the World Series, given how they have played to this point, but grab the odds while they’re good, as they will have a total turnaround in the second half.

New York Yankees to Win the American League (+900)
Braves vs Yankees World Series (+2300)
Braves to Win the World Series (+360)
