MLB Flex Play of the Day – Mikolas, Cease, Naylor, & Vazquez

Miles Mikolas Under 4 Strikeouts

Miles Mikolas is making his second consecutive start against the Chicago Cubs. His last time out, he struck out three over five innings. This was not an anomaly, as Mikolas pitches for contact. Over Mikolas’ previous ten starts, he’s averaging 2.8 Ks a game. Mikolas has been solid for the Cardinals overall this season, but he’s not a strikeout pitcher.

Dylan Cease Under 5.5 Strikeouts

Unlike, Mikolas, Dylan Cease is known for his K abilities. However, he has a tough battle today as he takes on the Cleveland Guardians. No team in the major leagues strikeouts less than the Guardians.,

Playing in the same division, Cease has extensive experience against Cleveland, and rarely does he reach his usual strikeout totals. He is averaging under 5 Ks a start against the Guardians in his career. Considering the numbers they are posting this season, bettors can expect that trend to continue.

Bo Naylor Under 0.5 Total Bases

It always feels wild betting on a player not to reach base, but Bo Naylor has been just terrible this season.

Naylor enters play with a .211 batting average and a .271 on-base percentage. Over his last fifteen games, he recorded a hit in five games, with three of those five being against the Royals — he always plays well against the Royals.

However, taking on Dylan Cease and the White Sox today, bettors should not expect to see Naylor on base tonight.

Brandon Vazquez Under 2.5 Shots

Brandon Vazquez started the season off hot, but his number of shots has dropped dramatically. During the Gold Cup, he was consistently shooting 3+ times a game. However, lately, he’s been lucky to get off more than one. Bettors should look for a consistent uptick in his performance before returning to the over.
