    Five Pitchers to Consider

  1. Luis Castillo, $10,000 (DK) vs Baltimore – Castillo is coming off a rough outing in Los Angeles against the Angels where he allowed seven runs over six innings. I think he bounces back here against the Orioles at home in T-Mobile Park. He has at least seven strikeouts in 10 starts this season.
  2. Justin Verlander, $9,400 (DK) vs LA Angels – Verlander took the loss in his return with the Astros last time out in Yankees Stadium. He pitched well giving up just two runs over seven innings but just didn’t get any run support. He will be popular tonight but lines up well here against the Angels who have struck out 2nd most in the last 30 days.
  3. Lance Lynn, $8,900 (DK) vs Colorado – What a difference a change of scenery has made for Lance Lynn. In his 3 starts prior to getting traded he had given up 17 runs over 16 innings. Since the trade to the Dodgers he is 2-0 and has given up just 4 earned runs over 13 innings. He, along with Justin Verlander will be the two most popular pitchers tonight but he draws a tasty home matchup here against Colorado.
  4. Kyle Gibson, $7,700 (DK) @ Seattle – The mid-tier has a few options tonight with Kyle Gibson being one of them. He has been pitching well over his last month and draws a nice matchup in Seattle. The Mariners have struck out 4th most the last 30 days and rank next to last in strikeouts for the season (Twins).
  5. Joan Adon, $6,600 (DK) vs Oakland – Adon looks to be my favorite pitcher under $7,000 tonight. He looked sharp in his first start of the season last time out in Cincinnati. He earned the win giving up 3 runs over six innings and had 7 strikeouts. He gets a nice home matchup here against Oakland.

    Five Stacks to Consider

  1. Atlanta Braves vs Tylor McGill (R) – In his return to the rotation following the trades of Verlander and Scherzer, McGill struggled in a loss to Baltimore. He lasted just 4.2 innings and allowed 9 hits a five runs. Now he gets to face the best offense in baseball. The Braves have scored at least 5 runs in 11 of their last 13 games.
  2. Philadelphia Phillies vs Dallas Keuchel (L) – The Twins will give Keuchel another start after he was able to survive a start against Arizona last time out. He gave up 8 hits (2 walks) but allowed just one run over 5 innings. I love the Phillies in this spot against Keuchel as their offense seems to be getting on track here in August.
  3. Houston Astros vs Reid Detmers (L) – Nice spot here at home for the Astros as they face a struggling Reid Detmers. Over his last 5 starts, Detmers is 0-3 and has given up 22 runs in 23 innings with 10 walks. Don’t leave out Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker (lefty/lefty) in your stacks.
  4. Kansas City Royals vs Adam Wainwright (R) – Each start I think may the last for Adam Wainwright but the Cardinals keep trotting him out there. He lasted just 3 innings last time out against a bad Colorado team giving up 9 hits and 7 earned runs. Waino has now been in the NEGATIVE fantasy points in 4 of his last 6 starts. Sign me up for a stack of AP’s Royals tonight!
  5. St. Louis Cardinals vs Coleman/Zerpa – Bombs away in Kauffman Stadium tonight with a game total sitting at 11 runs. We will need to monitor weather in this one but if it plays I love sides of this game for offense. Both Goldschmidt and Arenado are expensive but the rest of the stack is affordable.
