BASEBALL IS BAAAACK!!! We have a big 11-game afternoon slate on this Opening Day 2023.

Let’s dive into the MLB DFS Daily Breakdown!

Five Pitchers to Consider

1. Gerrit Cole, $9,000 (DK) vs San Francisco Giants – Cole will draw his 4th straight Opening Day start for the Yankees. He led the majors in strikeouts last year and seems primed for another big season in the Bronx. Nice matchup here vs the Giants at home.

2. Shane McClanahan, $7,700 (DK) vs Detroit Tigers – Very soft pricing with the pitching slate on Opening Day and McClanahan is just too cheap here. He gets arguably the best matchup against the Tigers at home. Will be one of the highest owned pitchers on the slate.

3. Blake Snell, $7,900 (DK) vs Colorado Rockies – Snell gets the start here with Musgrove and Darvish unavailable. We targeted pitchers vs the Rockies when they were on the road last year and will continue that trend here. Another guy who will carry some ownership due to his tasty price tag.

4. Corbin Burnes, $8,800 @ Chicago Cubs – Like many of the stud arms today he is way underpriced. We probably won’t see a price tag this cheap on him the rest of the season. He will see an improved Cubs offense here with the additions of Dansby Swanson and Cody Bellinger but still a strong matchup.

5. Max Scherzer, $9,400 (DK) @ Miami Marlins – Max is just a workhorse when he takes the mound. He went over 100 pitches and had 11 k’s in his last Spring Training start. I like the potential for a longer leash here over say Jacob deGrom who I also like but unsure of his pitch count.

Five Stacks to Consider

1. Atlanta Braves vs Patrick Corbin (L) – The Braves will no doubt be one of the top scoring offenses again this year. They added catcher Sean Murphy who is slated to hit 4th today in this already potent lineup. They will be the chalk offense today.

2. Boston Red Sox vs Kyle Gibson (R) – The highest total game on the slate and the Red Sox get a great matchup here at home vs Gibson. I like the new additions of Justin Turner, Masataka Yoshida and Adam Duvall. Tristan Casas is one the top prospects in the organization and is cheap.

3. Minnesota Twins vs Zack Grienke (R) – This game will be one of the best hitting spots on the slate. Zack Greinke is a pitcher I will target against all year as he is way past his prime. If Byron Buxton can stay healthy he should have a monster year. The lefties in this lineup are cheap if you need to save some salary.

4. San Diego Padres vs German Marquez (R) – The Padres continue to go out and acquire high priced talent. They added Xander Bogaerts in the off season to go along with an already elite top part of this Padres lineup. This lineup does provide for us some cheaper value plays towards the bottom of the lineup if you need the salary relief.

5. Baltimore Orioles vs Corey Kluber (R) – The other side of the game in Fenway Park. Game stack is clearly in play here. I like this Orioles lineup which has one of the best young prospects in baseball in Gunnar Henderson.
