My last four NRFI/YRFI picks went 2-2; with the juice, bettors are breaking even. Today is the day though, were bringing home two dubs!

Best NRFI

Atlanta Braves @ Seattle Mariners

Pitching in this one is Charlie Morton for the Braves and Robbie Ray for the Mariners.

Robbie Ray has been electric in his last six games; he’s allowed six runs in that stretch with two shutouts. In addition to that, the NRFI has hit in seven of his last ten starts.

Charlie Morton has had some consistency problems this season, but he’s been locked in of late. Morton has allowed two runs or less in six of his last ten games. As far as NRFIs, he’s been a god. Morton has not allowed a run in the first inning in eleven consecutive starts. This man just doesn’t know how to give up a run in the first.

No Runs in the First Inning (-125)

Best YRFI

Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals

Pitching in this one is Joey Wentz for the Tigers and Daniel Lynch for the Royals.

Joey Wentz is making his third career start, and any starter that is that green is ripe for a YRFI. He was absolutely annihilated in his first start against Oakland, allowing six runs in less than three innings of work. To his credit, he was much stronger in his second start; Wentz pitched four shutout innings against Minnesota. The YRFI is 2-0 in his two starts.

With a 4.82 ERA, some might think Daniel Lynch is just having a sophomore slump, but he’s still doing slightly better than he did in his rookie year. In his defense, he’s looked strong at points this season, with five shutouts. So KC is likely still hopeful he’ll come along in the coming years, but for now, the YRFI is the move as it’s cashed in four of his last six starts.

Yes, a Run in the First Inning (-125)
