MLB Best Bets – Mariners & Braves

Mariners @ White Sox

Today’s pitching matchup between these two teams perfectly embodies these two teams and why they are where they are in the standings. Luis Castillo is having another tremendous season and will try to help the Mariners hang on to that last Wild Card slot. The White Sox will once again be running out Touki Toussaint.

Toussaint started the season with the Guardians, and after one start, they cut him. Chicago picked him up, he made a few solid starts, and it’s been downhill since then. Those few starts allowed him to have a job for the remainder of the season, and he’ll finish things out with the White Sox, as each game means they are that much closer to the offseason.

Castillo enters play with a 9-7 record, but the Mariners have won more than half the games he has started. Despite allowing 4+ runs in two of his last four starts, Seattle has won the previous four games he’s started. Today though, taking on a team that ranks 24th in runs per game, Castillo and the M’s should have no problem picking up an easy win.

Mets @ Braves

The Mets head to the house of pain for three more games with the Atlanta Braves. It’s been just over a week since the Mets were embarrassed by the Braves over four games, being outscored 40-9. The Braves’ dominance is on a level never seen before. Within the division, the Braves are 25-7. All of their NL East rivals have at most two wins against them this year.

There are not enough words to explain how well Atlanta is playing right now. There are no bad bets when it comes to this team, and that’s especially true when they are playing the Mets.

Atlanta has yet to announce their starter, but that doesn’t matter. David Peterson makes the start for the Mets. He’s been thrust into the starting role once again, and the Braves had their fun with him back in April, scoring four runs in five innings in a game that was cut short due to rain. Bettors can expect similar numbers today.

Atlanta -1.5 (-110)
Over 10.5 (-110)
