MLB Best Bets: Late Night Action – Angles & Rangers

Giants @ Angles

The Angel’s struggles continued as they lost their seventh straight game thanks to a six-run ninth inning. Los Angeles took a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning but fell apart and ultimately lost the game 8-3.

The Angels will try to take a break from losing tonight in game two of this series. It will be an interesting one as they face opener Scott Alexander. Alexander has made a few starts this season, but he has never pitched more than an inning and a third. He’s a strong performer, but seeing if Gabe Kapler stretches him out will be interesting.

Pitching for Anaheim will be Lucas Giolito; he is making his first start since being roughed up by the Braves. Down in Atlanta, Giolito allowed nine runs in less than three innings. While that isn’t the first time this season he’s had a start like that, things should be easier against the Giants.

Lucas Giolito: Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (+100)
Lucas Giolito: Under 17.5 Outs Recorded (+108)

This losing streak must end soon, or the Angels playoff chances will be over. Look for a strong showing tonight as they put things back on track.

Anaheim (-115)

Rangers @ Oakland

The Rangers have been doing as much winning as the Angles have losing. They enter the game on a seven-game winning streak, and they are in Oakland playing a team they have dominated this season. Texas is 6-1 against the A’s this season, and there is no reason to think they won’t be 9-1 by the time this series is over.

Pitching for the Rangers is Max Scherzer, who is making his second start for Texas. He had a strong showing against the White Sox and will be dealing tonight against the A’s.

Starting for Oakland is JP Sears. Sears has played well against the Rangers this season but has not kept his club from losing. Even when he does his best work, the bullpen has been fantastic at blowing leads.

JP Sears: Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-115)
Texas -2.5 (-112)
