Philadelphia Phillies (+120) @ Atlanta Braves (-140) – Game 2
Pitching in this one is Zack Wheeler for Philadelphia and Kyle Wright for the Braves.
The Braves took a devastating loss yesterday in Game 1. The final score was 7-6, losing a one run game is tough, but losing while leaving 19 runners on base is much harder. It was an abysmal performance, and the Braves’ bats are more to be blamed than credit given to the Phillies’ pitching.
They’ll have another chance today with Kyle Wright taking the mound. He struggled in the playoffs in the past, most notably not making it out of the first inning against the Dodgers in Game 2 of the 2020 NLCS. However, he’s looked like a different pitcher this season.
Wheeler has faced Atlanta twice this season and holds a 2-0 record, allowing six runs in twenty innings.
These are two studs on the mound, but with how these offenses are performing, one- if not both- of these pitchers will give up runs early.
First Five Innings: Over 3.5 Runs (-125)
San Diego Padres (+155) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (-185) – Game 2
Pitching in this one is Yu Darvish for San Diego and Clayton Kershaw for Los Angeles.
Yu Darvish was unhittable in Game 1 of the Wild Card series, but he is facing a much tougher line-up today in LA. He saw the Dodgers four times in the regular season, had two shutout performances, and allowed seven total runs in the other two starts.
Kershaw has allowed one run against the Padres this season in twelve innings pitched. Even more impressive than that is the 2.93 ERA he posted last year in the playoffs.
Bettors will see fewer runs tonight than they did yesterday, with both teams running their ace.
We should have an over in Atlanta and an Under in LA.
First Five Innings: Under 3.5 Runs (+110)
While the Padres have a much better chance tonight with Darvish pitching, they will have to prove they can win against LA before they see any of my money.
