MATCHUP SUMMARY
The Vikings come off a 6 point loss to the 49ers but Kirk Cousins is back in that 1 EST start time where he plays his best. Cousins has flashed upside at times this year and has one of the best pass catchers on the team. Justin Jefferson has 30 targets in the last 3 games resulting in 395 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jefferson has quickly moved up to a top-tier receiver already in his young career. In his first meeting with the Lions, he caught 7 passes for 124 yards and looks to be a great option yet again this week. Adam Thielen is $900 cheaper than Jefferson and comes off back-to-back 20+ point games. Thielen has caught 5 or more passes in 5 of his last 6 games. Dalvin Cook went down last week and DraftKings did a good job at pricing up Alexander Mattison. Mattison still remains a great option this week as he will see the full workload here. Mattison filled in for Cook in the Vikings first matchup with Detroit this year resulting in 25 carries for 113 yards and 7 catches for 40 yards and a touchdown in the passing game. Great overall matchup here for this Vikings team and should come with some ownership.
Detroit has yet to win a game this season but has played teams tough this year losing 4 games by 3 points or less. Jared Goff and Josh Reynolds both played for the Rams and that chemistry popped off for a touchdown last week vs the Bears. Reynolds ended with 3 catches for 70 yards and that touchdown. At $3,400 Reynolds is in play for large field GPPs again this week. The best play for the Lions will be Jamaal Williams who has a nice price tag and will fill in for the injured Swift this week. He had 15 carries last week and 5 catches in the passing game and I expect around 15-18 carries this week with 4-7 catches in the passing game. He does have a couple of touchdowns early in the year and the Vikings just gave up 32 points to the 49ers running game last week. TJ Hockenson is fine for GPPs and game stacks but we have yet to see a real ceiling from him this year.
THE DFS GEMS
Justin Jefferson, MIN – $8,200 on DraftKings. I love the upside and consistency of Jefferson here in a great matchup. I look for him to hit that 100-yard bonus again vs this Lions team.
Alexander Mattison, MIN – $7,600 on DraftKings. Smash spot here again for Mattison and I hope the price tag scares people away.
Jamaal Williams, DET – $5,400 on DraftKings. We get a favorable price tag on Williams here and he should be the bell cow this week. I look for 15-18 carries and 4-7 catches for him this week.
