Glock’s NFL Lineup Review | Week 4

What is up everybody! This is a new article we are introducing this year which will review my main GPP/Single Entry team that I played over the weekend. I’ll do my best to explain why I played who I played, what I would have changed, and the results that came with it. The aim is to have this released every Tuesday and the hope is that the article can help provide you some valuable insight which can help improve your process when playing NFL DFS.

I always like writing review type of articles too since it forces me to be self-critical about my play and helps improves my process in turn. I definitely recommend reviewing your lineups after every weekend as well, I can guarantee it will make you a better player.

If you are familiar with my NBA Year In Review article from last year, I am not a high stakes player whatsoever and tend to play SE contests which are at the $100 price point and under. Whether you are a high stakes or low stakes player, you should be able to take tidbits and apply it to all levels of play. For the purposes of this article, I’ll be reviewing the ownership from the $100 NFL $500K Spy [$100K to 1st, Single Entry] contest. Lets dive in!

Welp, at least I got CMC right… that’s about it though. It was a forgetful weekend on the main slate for sure as nothing seemed to go right. I actually felt very good about my team going in this week, but DFS can be a cruel game at times. As always though, lets break down my reasoning for each play below:

Aidan O’Connell – Kept my eyes on the Jimmy Garoppolo news all week hoping AOC would be available to us. Was great in the pre-season and received high praise from Davante Adams. Playing him would give us the ability to stack up LV/LAC which was one of my favorite stacks on the week and also jam in studs

Christian McCaffrey – #1 priority play for me, in a cupcake matchup and positive game script. Wanted to find any way to play him especially after Elijah Mitchell was ruled OUT

James Cook – Wanted to get exposure to the MIA/BUF game somehow and since I didn’t get it through my pass catchers, played Cook for leverage purposes

Keenan Allen – The clear run back option for me in LV/LAC stacks despite the high ownership

Tank Dell – WRs have been crushing PIT all year (Brandon Aiyuk Week 1, Amari Cooper Week 2, Davante Adams Week 3) and I also thought this game had sneaky upside/game stack potential

Calvin Austin – Gave me mini-correlation with Tank Dell in a game which I mentioned above had sneaky upside, has been the 1:1 replacement for Dionte Johnson

Tanner Hudson – Absolutely hated the TE position so decided to go full punt with a low owned guy that showed some flash the week previous (I was prepared to play Harrison Bryant if David Njoku was unable to go)

Davante Adams – Mentioned the high praise he gave for AOC earlier. Adams has been able to produce no matter who has been behind center so he was one of my favorite spend ups on the slate and correlated with my QB of course

Eagles DST – Thought most would spend down at DST in like the 2.5k-2.9k range so I would pay up to be contrarian for a defense who could break the slate against a WAS team who has given up massive performances to opposing DSTs all year so far

We are now at 1-3 on the year when it comes to cash rate as virtually nothing except for CMC went right. O’Connell would have had a fine performance if it weren’t for 3 TOs, 1 being near the goal line at the end of the game. His correlation with Davante Adams and run back of Keenan Allen did not perform up to par though.

Instead of Tank Dell breaking the slate, it ended up being Nico Collins and maybe Joe Burrow and Kenny Pickett are just #NotGood (at least to start the year) resulting in those bad Calvin Austin and Tanner Hudson performances. Philly also played a super close overtime game with Washington at home so there was no shot the DST would put up a big number. Regardless, we move on to the next week so talk to yall soon!
