New York Rangers @ Pittsburgh Penguins The Penguins will be without captain Sidney Crosby tonight as they look to eliminate the Rangers in game 6. Crosby took a hit last game from Trouba that resulted in him leaving the game in the 2nd period. Without him there it will be up to Evgeni Malkin to step up, historically he has. Malkin has never shied away from being the front man, his stats actually get significantly better when Crosby is out of the line up, averaging 1.35 points per game in such situations. The biggest difference is Malkin isn’t as good defensively as Crosby, but is more than skilled enough on offense to run the first line and power play. Rickard Rakell will also be a game time decision after being injured in the first game of the series. There shouldn’t be any changes to goaltending with Shesterkin and Domingue as the starters while the Penguins await Jarrys return. The Rangers first line should be a bit better tonight as well, being tasked with shutting down the Crosby line has really limited their offensive chances, it just depends on what line match ups Coach Sullivan decides to go with. I think tonight we see what Geno is made of, as he said himself “he is score”, he’s a different animal when he’s the star of the show.
Bet: Pittsburgh Penguins Money Line (+105)
Florida Panthers @ Washington Capitals After blowing a 3 goal lead in game 5, the Capitals risk elimination with a loss tonight. During the regular season, Florida led the league in come back wins which has carried over to the playoffs as 2 of their 3 wins have been come from behind victories. If Florida comes out of the gates hot then I don’t see how they don’t close the series out tonight. Carter Verhaeghe has been a stud this series, scoring 10 points in the 5 games so far. His scoring has helped with the fact that Washington has still kept the Florida power play off the board, if those flood gates open then there should be plenty of goals to go around. With the second round in sight I think Florida comes out with purpose, winning in a high scoring game.
Bet: Florida Panther -1.5 (+150)
Calgary Flames @ Dallas Stars Goaltending has been the theme of this series, if the Stars want to send this to game 7 they need to figure out how to beat Jacob Markstrom, he’s been a wall in net this far in the series. The Flames haven’t fared much better against Jake Oettinger either, scoring only an average of 2 goals a game. Dallas is playing against the Flames much better than I, or anyone, really expected them to. While a little boring to watch at times, they are a very solid defensive team, limiting the scoring chances of that dangerous top line in Calgary. On home ice tonight the Stars will be able to get the ideal line match ups to keep up that game plan and make Calgary miserable.
