Xavier @ Marquette

The sixteenth-ranked Xavier Musketeers head to Wisconsin to take on the eleventh-tanked Golden Eagles.
Xavier and Marquette are duking it out for the Big East, but Providence and Creighton are right behind them. While it’s Marquette’s to lose, anyone who wins out could take the conference. Regardless of who comes out on top, the Big East will be well-represented in this year’s NCAA tournament. With the retirement of Jay Wright, many thought it would be a while before the Big East saw another basketball championship, but they will certainly be in the running this year.
Marquette needs a win today. They lost to Uconn last week and want to avoid back-to-back losses against ranked opponents going into their meeting with Creighton next week. Depending on how Marquette’s next seven days go, they could be a favorite for the tournament or fall drastically in the standings.
Xavier has a tough schedule to close out the season. After today, they will have five games to play; in that stretch, they will take on Seaton Hall and Providence. While they are set up well for March, they could give themselves a serious confidence boost with some wins.
The home team has won in the last five meetings between these squads, but Xavier has looked stronger of late than Marquette. So even if the Golden Eagles can sneak out the win at home, it will not be by six points.
Xavier +6 (-110)
High Point @ Presbyterian
The High Point Panthers head to South Carolina to take on a Presbyterian team that has lost 13 games in a row.
Similar to myself and my current betting streak, the Presbyterian Blue Hose couldn’t pick up a win if their life depended on it. We’ve both had some close calls but ultimately fall in the end.
High Point Season is not going much better. Presbyterian sits at the bottom of the Big South, and High Point is right there with them. Combined, they only have four conference wins. However, it should be an entertaining game today. As terrible as these teams are, they are well-matched and rank similarly in all statistical categories.
High Point defeated the Blue Hose early in the year by eight, and while High Point has only won one game on the road this year, they should be able to pick up their second today. So the good news is, either myself or the Blue Hose should end their losing streak tonight.
High Point (+100) Under 141 (-110)
