MATCHUP SUMMARY
So much for Ja’Marr Chase not being able to catch the ball, which I thought was laughable how the media tried to portray that story. I will continue to say that I think Ja’Marr Chase is the best WR to come out of college since Julio Jones. Chase was targeted 7 times, catching 5 of those for 101 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL game seeing half of the team’s air yards. Tee Higgins had 4 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game to get an IV and will be fine going forward. Joe Mixon lived up to the preseason hype of being a true 3 down back as he carried the ball 29 times for 127 yards and 1 touchdown. He also caught all 4 targets in the passing game for 23 yards. The Bengals still need to do a better job at keeping Joe Burrow safe as they gave up 5 sacks to the Vikings. Burrow was very effective completing 20 of his 27 pass attempts for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Bears fans continue to plead their cases for Justin Fields to get the start after losing their opening game to the Rams. Dalton completed 27 passes on 38 attempts for 206 yards and an interception supporting a 72.9 QBR. Fields only saw 5 snaps but was 2-2 passing and added in a 3-yard rushing touchdown. I am interested in seeing if Nagy will play Fields more this game vs a weaker defense than the Rams if Dalton struggles early. Allen Robinson caught 6 of his 11 targets for 35 yards but was matched up vs Jalen Ramsey. Robinson will see a much better matchup this game and will be a guy I look to roster this week as he should come in lower owned. David Montgomery was very effective on the ground rushing for 108 yards on 16 carries.
I expect the Bears to continue to lean on David Montgomery as they try to control the clock. Chicago needs to get star receiver Allen Robinson more involved early and often if they want to compete with the well-balanced Bengals offense as I feel neither team has a good defense. I feel that Cincinnati is the better team here and will look to exploit this Bears defense as the Rams did last week. Stafford was able to throw for over 300 yards as the Bears gave up 2 big plays in the passing game. Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins should see success here as well. I like the game stack here as I feel it will get overlooked with only a 45-point total, but both offenses can put up points.
THE DFS GEMS
Ja’Marr Chase, CIN – $5,000 on DraftKings. This price tag is still too low for the upside that Chase presents and looks to be the Alpha on this roster.
Allen Robinson, CHI – $6,200 on DraftKings. Robinson saw the volume last week with 11 targets but was not able to do much with that, only catching 6 passes for 35 yards. I like buying the dip here on Robinson in a much better matchup.
Tee Higgins, CIN – $5,400 on DraftKings. I like the price on Higgins here just over 5K and makes for an easy double stack with Burrow and Chase. You can turn this into a cheaper game stack by bringing it back with Robinson.
