MATCHUP SUMMARY

The Cincinnati Bengals started the season 5-2 and had things rolling before disappointing losses to the Jets and Browns. After their bye week in week 10 however they have rebounded nicely with a win in Las Vegas against the Raiders 32-13 and last week a big blowout win over their division rival Steelers at home 41-10.

The biggest reason for their recent surge has been the play of running back Joe Mixon. He has rushed 58 times for 288 yards and four touchdowns in their last two wins. This week Mixon will look to keep the momentum going when he faces a Chargers rush defense that ranks near the bottom of the league. If not going with Mixon, you can certainly look to Joe Burrow and the passing game this week. Tee Higgins is coming off a big game against the Steelers when he caught six passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Rookie Ja’Marr Chase has struggled the last four weeks but has that big play ability and upside with Burrow under center.

The Los Angeles Chargers (6-5) have been a tough team to figure out from week to week in 2021. One week they look pretty good and the next week they look terrible. They are 2-3 in their last five games with wins in Philadelphia and at home against Pittsburgh but have losses to New England, Minnesota and last week on the road in Denver. Quarterback Justin Herbert has been up and down this year but remains a solid fantasy option every week and has thrown for over 300+ yards in three of his last four games with 8 touchdowns. Herbert has two big threats in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams in the passing game. This week I like Williams a little more given the price discount from Allen. Austin Ekeler is the second-highest priced option at RB this week at $8,300 but is in play in a game total that currently sits at 50.5. Ekeler can get it done on the ground and in the passing game with dump offs from Herbert.

THE DFS GEMS

Joe Mixon, CIN – $8,100 on DraftKings. Has been on quite a roll recently and draws a solid matchup this week against the awful Chargers run defense.

Joe Burrow, CIN – $6,300 on DraftKings. If the Chargers sell out to stop the run and Joe Mixon it could open up things in the passing game for Burrow, Higgins and Chase.

Austin Ekeler, LAC – $8,300 on DraftKings. He is priced up but that should keep his ownership down. Nice option..

Mike Williams, LAC – $5,700 on DraftKings. Big Mike has been quiet of late but has a cheap price tag at $5,700 given his big play upside. I prefer him over Allen this week due to salary.
