MATCHUP SUMMARY

Kyler Murray leads the high-powered Kliff Kingsbury offense as they look to improve on the lackluster 8-8 record they had last year. The Cardinals added veteran WR A.J. Green this off-season and acquired gadget player Rondale Moore from Purdue in the draft. Moore will present many problems for defenses this year with his homerun speed and playmaking ability. Moore was used in both the rushing and passing games in both preseason games this year. One of the NFL’s top WR’s in DeAndre Hopkins comes off a 115-catch season, which tied his career-high in catches in a season. But his TDs have dropped off in the past 4 years after peaking with 13 in 2017, only catching 6 last season. The Cardinals lost a couple of big names out of their secondary in Dre Kirkpatrick and Patrick Peterson last year and will be starting a 6th round rookie this season. The Cardinals also lost Haason Reddick and his 12.5 sacks, but JJ Watt will look to fill that gap.

Derrick Henry is fresh off rushing for over 2,000 yards last season and could see some softer boxes this season with the addition of Julio Jones to help bolster the passing game. Ryan Tannehill comes off what I think was the best season of his career. He passed for 3,819 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He posted a career-best QBR rating of 78.3 and now has 2 big-play threats out wide. Both Julio Jones and AJ Brown will be mismatches for this new Cardinals secondary. The Titans made some big moves to improve their bad defense from last year in adding OLB Bud Dupri (8 sacks), DE Denico Autry (7.5 sacks), CB Jenoris Jankins, and drafting CB Caleb Farley with their 1st round draft pick.

This will be the Cardinals’ first true road game with fans in the stands since 2019 and I look for the Titans to take advantage of this new-look Cardinals secondary. Arizona does have a good front 7 but the Titans counter that with the 12th best offensive line that was 6th in sacks allowed last season.

THE DFS GEMS

Rondale Moore, ARI – $3,000 on DraftKings. I expect Moore to be a popular punt play this week and for good reason as the Cardinals showed a glimpse of what is to come in the preseason featuring him in both the Pass and Rush games.

Ryan Tannehill, TENN – $6,500 on DraftKings. Derrick Henry usually sees the most ownership on this Titans offense but I want to target this new-look passing attack vs this Cardinals secondary with a 27.5 implied team total.

AJ Brown, TENN – $7,100 on DraftKings. I expect AJ Brown to see some better matchups this year with Julio Jones across from him and defenses still have to respect the rush game as well.
