TV: FS1 @ 8:00pm
Air Force: -24.5; O/U 46.5
Nevada: +24.5; O/U 46.5
We got a mountain west matchup here tonight between Air Force and Nevada. Air Force comes into this game 2-1 and 0-1 in conference play beating Northern Iowa and Colorado while losing by 3 to Wyoming last week. Nevada comes into this game 2-2 winning their first two against New Mexico State and Texas State and losing to Incarnate Word in a shootout and Iowa. The history of these two teams playing Air Force leads 4-2. In their 6 meetings each of these games has gone over 46.5. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes over the 46.5 once again.
Air Force comes into this game averaging 34 points per game while only giving up 15 points per game. They average close to 469 yards per game and giving up 303 yards per game. Air Force is led by a stud running back Brad Roberts and John Lee Eldridge. Roberts in 3 games has rushed for 48 times for 342 yards and 4 TDs averaging 114 yards per game while John Lee Eldridge has rushed for 29 times for 277 yards and 1 TD. With Air Force rushing attack Hazziq Daniels has only attempted 25 passes with only 11 completions. In the air he only averages 72 passing yards per game. Nevada defensively on the ground has giving up 107.3 yards on the ground and I would expect them to struggle against this Air Force ground attack team who averages close to 400 yards on the ground with 7 yards per attempt on the ground.
For Nevada, it looks like they play a two QB in the last 4 games with Nate Cox getting most of the work, playing in all four games. Nevada on the ground has a strong two backfield with Toa Taua and Devonte Lee. Taua has rushed 78 times for 277 and 3 TDs averaging 69 yards per game. Devonte has rushed 40 times for 173 and 4 TDs averaging 43 yards per game. Air Force defensively has given up 452 yards on the ground averaging 4.5 yards per attempt. While Air Force in the passing game defensively has given up on average per game 166 yards in the air.
My final thoughts, Air Force is ranked 10th in the nation with opponent yards per game with 252 yards per game. Nevada is ranked 24th in the nation with opponent’s yards per game with 306. On the road they have struggled giving up nearly 321 yards per game to opponents. I think we will see Air Force rushing attack take over this game and I also believe that Nevada will be able to put points on the board. Playing at Air Force is one of the toughest places to play due to the altitude that their stadium is located at in Colorado.
Zach’s best bet: Over 46.5 -110 DK. Units 1.1
