MATCHUP SUMMARY
The 49ers are coming off a dreadful 6-10 year in which they lost their QB early on, and are looking to really improve this season with healthy QB play. Jimmy G will be starting early on, but when will we see Trey Lance? They will once again be relying on their defense, for the most part, this season. They do have a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball with Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Mostert, and the rookie Trey Sermon. In this game, I expect a blowout early and then them relying on Raheem Mostert and Trey Sermon down the stretch.
Speaking of dreadful, the Lions were 5-11 last season and replaced Matt Stafford with Jared Goff. They also let Kenny Golladay go and have legitimately the worst WR core I have ever seen. Tyrell Williams is the WR1 followed by Quintez Cephas, Kalif Raymond, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. They do have 2 bright spots on offense though with the STUD TE TJ Hockenson and RB D’Andre Swift. This team will be playing catchup a lot this season, so there is an opportunity for Hockenson to finish as a top 5 fantasy TE.
THE DFS GEMS
George Kittle, SF – $6,300 on DraftKings. Jimmy Garrappolo’s most trusted pass catcher and should command 10 targets per game. Love him this week.
Trey Sermon, SF – $4,500 on DraftKings. STUD rookie RB who fits perfectly in this offense. He will be splitting carries with Mostert early on, but I expect him to be the RB1 before long. With SF being a massive favorite here, I expect him to get a lot of 2nd half carries.
T.J. Hockenson, DET – $4,900 on DraftKings. Should be the de facto WR1 in this offense this season and will see a massive target share.
